My buddie is going to get his Father-in-law's 89 GT for Christmas. He already bought a shifter and gears for it. I thought I would get him a set of underdrive pullies for Christmas. I am not up too speed on all the 5.0 parts and was wondering which pullies to stay away from. As I understand some kits come with either 2 or 3 pullies. Any pro's or cons to either type? What about the belt? I have read that some kits require a different serpentine belt? I did a search but did not find what I was looking for. As I am running out of time, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Just about any of them will be fine, the only real question is if you just want black or you want "shiny" or different colors.

They're all made out of the same thing.... i've never heard of someone putting on a "bad set of underdrives"

Uh, they're not all the same. You can get aluminum ones, steel ones, painted, powder coated, annodized, all-underdrive, main pulley/water pump underdrive with alternator overdrive, the list probably goes on. But get him some red ones - it's Christmas for cryin' out loud.

I know they're not the same in that respect... but what i mean is, they all do the same PURPOSE equally well.. it doesn't matter what they're made of (really).. or what color they're painted

Do pulleys make a noticible difference on a mostly stock car?
