WTF Car cuts out and stalls when i go in reverse

What the hell would cause the car to do this?? It drives fine when i go in 1st gear. But when i go in reverse and i start to move when it goes from like 1500 and jsut cuts down to like 100 sits there and stalls. the car caosts fine and smooth in reverse with the clutch in so its not the tranny or anything. I just dont get it. The car has slowly deteriorated over that last few months and is such a hunk of crap now, i swear im gonna drive this thing off a cliff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, when you said the stang has been detiorating over time, it made me feel a lot better, lol. Mine has been going down the crapper too it seems. I honestly can't help you with that issue though, is it an auto or manual?

And when did you shorten your sig? Looks good.

EDIT: Dammit, I just read te part about the clutch. I feel stupid now.

Lol yeah its a stick. As for the sig i did it today at work. I thought it was a little long these days, but it seems the more money i time i spend on my stang the worse it runs.

Okay, so when you push the clutch in, and put it in reverse, it dies when the clutch is still in? That doesn't sound right. ttt for ya.

No, when i let the clutch out and start moving it would cut out.


BUT of course today i go out to show my dad when im leaving for school, and the car is fine, doesnt to it!! The car ran great today on my way to school. I think im gonna get a remanucatured distributor, and see how that helps, if i turn mine in as a core its only 31 bucks.

Is it only when the motor is cold? That might be a sign.

yea happens to me two, but i dought we have the same problem. i have concluded, after several tests, that when coasting in reverse, and doing several turns, it will die. i figured out the steering pump takes so much power to turn it when you're at the peak of your turning radius, that if you arent at a high enough rpm, the motor can not take the load. try backing up with a little more gas, or less clutch.

Think it has anything to do with the VSS sensor?
