i got the brilliant idea today to give the notch a good detailing. interior window clean, leather treatment, wash, ect. i started with the exterior, i did a wash, then i was going to go one step further. clay bar and wax like i always do.

i have never waxed or done any paint treatment since i got this car. i started with the clay bar, i have spent 2 hours so far. in 2 hours i have cleaned the trunk lid and the tops of both fenders next to the hood. thats IT.

this paint looks amazing now with the minimal cleaned area's. the "white" i've been seeing looks so yellow and dingy. these comparison pics are just after a wash too, this is how much dirt is concealed in the paint.

gonna put in 5+ hours tomorrow and hopefully atleast finish claying the car.. no wax in these pics either after claying. it's gonna look so good.

before and after, look at the surrounding area by the ford emblem

see the clean area in the middle of claying? blue is my lub, white is the clean spot, the giant brown is the cars normal paint color.

Wow!

I'd clay mine but I'd probably just run the paint off.

each time i clay for about 5 minutes of fast circles/back and forth. lots and lots of lube. then i spray it off with the hose and follow that with a firm washing using my microfiber sponge. done that about 5-8 times on each section i've done. its exhausting.

paint looks so good though, should be even better with some wax on it.

Does your car have base/clear coat or single stage paint?

Either way, looks like your gonna have some sore arms. Lol.

If Oprah leaves you in temporary paralysis, you may have to invest in this bad boy.

View attachment 212708

It leaves you with plenty of strength to fap after a long day of detailing.

I'm not sure a clay bar would remove so much clear that it would pose an issue.

Also removing a bit of the clear, is exactly the way a professional would go about bringing back a cars shine. No harm in taking a little bit a way and getting down into some good clear.

If the car is base/clear, then there is no way a clay bar can remove the clear coat. It contains no abrasives whatsoever.

All it does is pickup dirt and other contaminants off the paint surface. It won't remove any swirl marks or other defects.

This is true. I had a friend wet sand a Reef Blue fox years ago. Car had 85K miles or so but was in near perfect condition. He was concerned about the thickness of clear, but after completing it, it looked amazing!

i spoke to a friend/detailer today regarding this. i told him what was happening, ect. he said i bet your working your ass off aren't you? which i am to get these results.

it is not taking off the clear. he told me it would not take the clear off. just got home from 12 hours at work, gonna go put my oprah training to the test. ill see how far i can get.

i cant help but feel like this is useless though lol. im getting the car cut/polished and some body damage fixed in 2 weeks. oh well, this will still help the process (save $$) in the end.
