Ok heres the deal. I have a 2001 GT Manual. I have been noticing lately that about 1 out of 10 shifts into 5th gear it grinds going in. Just wondering if anyone knows what it could be. I'm sure it can't be good???

synchros wearing down i guess

my old 5.0 used to do that in 3rd gear in the morning and never do it the rest of the day. it never did it every morning though.

try topping off your tranny with tranny fluid first to make sure that isnt the problem.

Welcome to stock mustang transmissions. They all shift rough cold. Only solution is to upgrade trans.

I took my car in for the tranny TSB work(TR3650) and when they got the tranny opened up, they found 5th gear was ground all to hell too. 5th gear didn't grind for me though...

by my understanding the synchronize the gears themselves so they are spinning at the same speed and you can shift straight over without double clutching to match.
