x or h pipe?

which has the best sound and performace? i'm looking at the brenspeed off road pypes?? any input??

you need to ask which is best with your mufflers. they change the sound so much, you need to research your combo before you purchase.

X pipe needs straight thru muffler, H pipe needs chambered muffler.

I have an o/r x with straight thru magnaflows. I was happy with the sound at first, because it was loud. But I'm growing to realize it doesn't sound like a Mustang. I think next year I'm going to switch out the magnaflows for flowmasters, and switch the o/r x to o/r h. I just gotta find out how the flowmasters sound. Because of the side pipe setup, I can't buy the regular flow40's. I have to get the cylindrical ones. I don't know how those sound... but to get back to the point. I think most people will say h pipe and chambered mufflers, for that true Mustang sound.

Since i live in cali and alot of people get pulled over all the time i went with the magnaflow (high flow) catted x-pipe

Hey bigcat,

I have the FRPP/stingers so I want to make sure I get this right. Based on what you said above I should get an X pipe (catted), correct? I'll probably do this the same time I get LT headers.

Anyone got a differnt sound clip of an O/R H-pipe with stock exhaust? The one on Brenspeed has a lot on wind noise and wanted a better clip if out there.

Hey guys, I just thought I would chime in here. I've always heard that you should go with an X-pipe with straight through mufflers, but I've got the FRPP/Stingers with Pypes O/R H-pipe. I installed the Stingers first and thought they sounded great, then I heard a clip of an H-pipe and thought it sounded even better.

After installing the H-pipe, I was totally shocked as to how loud it really was. It was why to loud for my taste, but it did sound good. Trumpets and drone were a major problem to me.

I got to reading about people that did the same combo as I did installed resonators to totally get rid of the drone and the trumpets, so I called my local perfomance exhaust shop and had them weld in some resonators.

I was absolutely amazed after firing it up after they were installed. It sounds absolutely amazing now, it's very deep and defined, rather than just flat loud. It did tone it down a little, well, actually, it's a lot more managable now. It's pretty tame just cruising, but really wakes up when you get on it. Also, NO MORE DRONE OR TRUMPETS!!! Here's a couple of pics of the resonators they installed, along with some sound clips. Clips really don't bring the depth of the exhaust, but you'll get a good idea if you have anything besides laptop speakers...

These are completely straight through, so they are not hindering performance at all.

sooo, what would be ideal with Loudmouth's, x or h?? Or is a prochamber the only thing that wont make is sound like rice?? The only thing I've found sound clips for with LMs is the pypes o/r H. Anybody know where to find clips of the others??

I've got a catted mac prochamber and was thinking of going with the borla stingers which are a straight through design...I can never tell if the Prochamber is considered an X or an H, I have heard it is kind of a hybrid between the two. Will the prochamber sound alright with the stingers? I definitely want that "mustang sound", nothing ricey.

Does anyone have just the Pypes O/R H-pipe and left the stock mufflers? How did it sound inside and outside compared to the stock? Is it meaner sounding or just loud? Any popping like glass pipes?

Very nice sound 02whtgt. Nice color btw. It was very hard to tell the color from just the paint chip in both the book and online. Saw one at the dealer as I was getting my '06.

i ordered the frpp/borla stingers, so the bassani catted x will be the best? i live in nazi cali so i need to have cats on the car.

I'm running the Pypes O/R H-pipe with a set of Borlas...its extremely loud on startup, but its one of the fiercest muscle car sounds I've heard, particularly on a new car. Drone isn't too much louder than it was w/ the stock pipe and the Borlas. Cops haven't pulled me yet for sound or emissions and its been a year, so I guess as long as you drive conservatively around piggies everything is ok.

If you're looking for a very loud, traditional muscle car sound, this is a winning combo. I'm very happy with this setup.
