x-pipe questions

I'm about to buy an x-pipe for my 94 cobra and I just wanted to get some advice.

-What is the best sounding x-pipe for a 5.0? (i'm thinking i want to get MAC or BBK)

-Will I pass inspection with an o/r x-pipe?

-How big of a difference soundwise does an x-pipe make? I mean, does it make the car sound a lot more ballsy?

-Any noticeable power gain?

Thanks in advance guys.

I like my bassani x-pipe
no you will not pass inspection, especially in MA
x-pipes have a sort of "racey" almost higher pitched screaming sound compared to an h-pipe
you should notice a slight amount of top end gain

Ditto to what Scott said about the tone - You will lose a bit of low-end torque simply because you are getting rid of a lot of backpressure (ie. the cats), but you will definately be please with the performance

Actually, if you want MAC contact me before you buy it, I can hook you up

you are 100% correct you will hear and feel the performance difference and my x-pipe was custom made by a well known exhaust specialist in town,he guranteed i would be happy with it and he was right. have you installed aftermarket headers yet if not doing this will also amaze you it completely changes performance and sound.

I put on my headers and full exhaust with an o/r x-pipe at the same time on my (at the time) stock car and didn't notice any power gain.

The sound with flowmasters and dumps is awesome, I get a lot of compliments.

In Texas my car will pass the sniffer, but since I have no cats I won't pass visual. Good luck

i like the X sound alot better

i was running a off road H dunno what kind with flows dumped and at the track i ran a 15.6 at 89 was my best

then i just bought a UPR off road x went to the track again and went almost a 15.2 at 91 almost 92... pretty big incrase just switching from a H to a X

thats just with exhaust and bone stock AOD 92 mustang so i would say go with a X

i dunno about pass inpection i run no Smog or cats

come on now you didn't feel any power gain. did you have factory headers before replacement.

I put the headers and exhaust on at the same time and didn't feel a thing, which is the norm from what I have read on here on a stock mustang. On a dyno you might see 5-10 hp

You'll see 5-10hp from an Offroad H on a stock 5.0 Hell, I noticed a difference by just going to a Mac catback. I'm willing to bet with a full exhaust your looking at 15-25hp depending on the setup and you will definately feel that unless you don't pay attention to how your car runs.

I think 25 hp is a bit much, maybe if you had a highly modified 331 with stock exhaust. No way will a stock 302 pickup 15-25hp with just headers and exhaust. A lot of the difference you feel is in your head because of the sound.
