From what I've read H-pipes are a little louder because the X-pipes cancel out the way the X-pipes are designed they cancel out the sound a little. But louder isn't always better. I imagine X-pipes sound a little smoother, plus they make more power.

I heard most x's are meant for straight-through mufflers, and h's are for chambered muffs. I don't think it matters though, a lot of people mix them up.

I think the H-pipes sound much better. X-pipes just perform so much better on a high rpm application, I'm kinda stuck with my Dr Gas X on my car. With an X-pipe you get a high pitched sound. H-pipes you get more of a growl.

H-pipes are deeper sounding while X-pipes are raspier. As far as X-pipes not being as loud, my x-pipe seems just as loud as my old H-pipe. X-pipes do make a little more hp, but not by much i think, it's more about sound preference.

There is a difference between the two other than sound preference. X-Pipes trade some low end tourque for maximum high-RPM power, so they are not suited for mildly moded cars. Once you are making big power and have plenty of rear-end gear X-Pipes are the better choice.

My old setup was a mac offroad into flows, and it sounded awesome. After switching to a Dr. Gas X, it sounded awesome. To tell you the truth I don't see that much of a difference. If I had to decide though, I prefer the X-pipe. The car revs up alot higher and sounds ****in brutal at high rpms. I dont hear any trace of "raspiness" or anything of the sort, nor (now that i think about it) did the H sound more "throaty". In my opinion, i think most of the sound comes from whats behind the midpipe, and to a lesser extent, whats in front of it.

Edit: Oh, and power wise, unless your pushin 400 with a stock catted pipe, i dont think you'll feel a huge difference in the ass of your pants. Just my 2 mutha****in cents.

I cant wait to get my long tubes and Dr Gas X on. I also have flowmasters. Does anyone run this combo or has anyone heard it?

Kind of. I have Ford short tubes, a Bassani X-Pipe, and Flowmasters. I have been told this combination is not ideal. I don't care though because it was brand new when I got the car. It's just exhaust anyway. Mid pipe and headers do little for a stock or mildly modded car. I am not one of those people that is worried about how their car sounds. My only complaint is that the Bassani X-Pipe is very rough and bothers my back on long trips.

I have the exact same setup. BBK l/t's (ceramic coated) into the dr. gas x into an american thunder system and it sounds very threatening. I think you'll be very satisfied. But uhh....the neighbors wont.

Nice...Yea I have bbk Shorties, Mac h pipe and flows right now. Ive read to that w/ the x you can hear the motor "rev down" (When youre at or more than 3000 rpm's and you let of the gas) more rather than the rumble and popping you get with the H pipe. Is this true??
