Dont know if it was a repeat or not, but it was a Beetle vs Honda CRX. Apparently the Beetle bent the truth alittle about what he could run. He was killn the CRX. They gave the CRX half the track headstart . He finally won. It was ridiculous. The guy with the CRX said if he would of known about the power of the Beetle then he would of built a faster car. So they let him, 2 weeks later thier back, it was much closer then, but @ the end the Beetle still got'm.

What year beetle? The original ones (1200 cc & 1300 cc) would take a 1600 cc Porsche engine if you hammered the engine compartment a little to clear the carbs..

it was one of the older beetles. I know there fast, we got a guy here that has one that runs in the low low 7's on 1/8th. Iv'e always heard you can build them things strong. My point though is that I have never seen anyone get 1/8th headstart.

Beetle was running turbo and nitrous. Apparently it was a 9/10 sec. car (1/4)

the thing is though.... the CRX team asked the beetle to take off his wheelie bars... which I belive is why he broke the shaft and wrecked.

Was a rerun, beetle hit the wall, which I have seen happen at the local track. This one hit the wall twice in one day.

Tread got your attention didn't it.

I thought the beetle lost it when he was letting off past finish line, and on the bottle I think he only used it on the 1st run.

Wrong the largest engine from a Porsche that will fit in the old Vee Dub is a 1500 which is smaller than a stock VW 1600. You are better off sticking with a Dual Port 1600 and make it larger, they easily ran low 12 second 1/4s back around 1970 and they were still great DDs.

I had to jerk off the cable to get it to stop.
