I know the gear threads are gettong old but I have a 99 35th anniversary GT vert with saleen kit and wanted to throw in 4.10's. Its an automatic and I wanted to know which brand were the best and how much would an install cost. I got a quote from the dealer here in Chicago and he said around $1500 which is definately BS and not worth it. If anyone knows any goot place to get them installed in Chicagoland area and how much an average install runs, your help would much be appreciated.

The Ford Racing gear is the easiest to set up according to my local installers. In my area the price of install is usually $250 and a gear is around $190. Good luck on your search.

Ford Racing is the way to go. I know of several places in the Chicagoland area...

Sutton performance
Speed inc
Finish line performance

and if you want to drive to Peoria SloPny will do it for $150.

Shop before you buy.

www.gefracing.com has ford racing gears for $140. This is where I got mine. Don't pay more than $200 for a gear install. Anything over that is a rip off. I paid $150 total counting fluids.
