I ran over something in the road yesterday that sliced one of my tires. The tires were about on their last leg anyway. I am planning on getting different rims (I have stock 17X8) and probably some BFG KDW's next summer but now I need to get a couple of tires for the rear to get me through the next couple of months till I put her away for the winter.

Can you recommend a halfway decent inexpensive tire just to get me through the next couple of months. Money is very tight right now. I was looking at the Kumho Ecsta. There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews about this tire though.

I hvae the Nitto 555's. They look good and grip well, but I've had alignment issues since the day they installed them

Have you considered perhaps going to a used tire place and picking up two tires to get you through the rest of the season?

General Exclaims are very popular as a cheap replacement.

Another option is getting some good used rubbers. I got two Michelin Pilot Sport 225/45-17's for my VW for $93 installed.

I actually ended up driving all over town for quite a while (small town!). I only found one shop in town that had the size I needed. It turned out the tire they had in stock was the BFG KDWS so I ended up buying two of those for the rear. $330 mounted and balanced.
