here's whats stopping a true Ford fan from buying a Shelby. A greedy dealer sittin on 8 of them and asking $20K above sticker.
Shame on Ford for letting this happen to one of there most wanted cars.

(This dealership would be a perfect target for a real version of "Gone in 60 seconds" )

One Dealer in Rochester NY is getting ONE and he was pissed that he was only able to get that 20K over sticker.

My thoughts on this are,

1) A Fool and his money is easily parted.

2) I won't pay sticker for any Car no matter how bad I want it!

3) I also won't go to dealers that do this sort of thing.

That is a really old picture. I think if you go to ebay now, you will see that they have 5 GT-H's and 2 conv. 500's.

That is not there allocation if I am correct. I think they are buying up allocations through a location service.

all the local dealers where i am at are asking 16-20K over sticker too, don't feel bad. i think all Ford dealers that are lucky enough to get the GT500's are asking the same thing, respectively. as for the GT-H's, some were on ebay for $75K. but that was a while ago. now they are probably more than that. would i buy either, hell no, not even if i was rich. if i can't pay invoice, or just a little over, i'll not buy nothing.

Wrong... The pic aint as old as you may think.
They have at least 5 of those in stock right now, PLUS a grabber orange that they are selling on Ebay.

Ok it's a current picture. Doesn't that just make it worse for them? If I was going to pay $20k over (Which I never would). It is very hard to tell me it is limited production when 5 or 6 are sitting in your showroom.

ok you maybe right but I can tell you it probably is not their allocation. They are probably buying these from other dealers for premiums and then selling them.

Either way who cares, if they want to have 15 of them it isn't your money they are spending.

You can save $10k by buying from that dealer. Salinas Valley Ford in Salinas, CA had only one with a sold sign on the windshield with $30k dealer markup ($73k total).

A local dealer (Bloomington, IL) had one advertised in the paper Saturday -- Used with just about 1,400 miles on it. I went down and talked to a salesman. He showed me the car, it was very nice. It was hidden in a detail shop building. I asked where they got it from, trade/auction, and how much they wanted. He said it was the only one allocated to the dealer and an employee bought it. Then he said its not really for sale. Couldn't give me a price. I guess since it got me to the dealer, their strategy worked.

Salinas Valley Ford has some great alternatives for potential GT500 buyers that show up but don't want to pay $73k. They also have a great variety of colors and options of Roush S281 Mustangs, including the the Stage 3, priced in the $50k's.

If I'm gonna spend 45k+ on a Mustang I would wait for the GT500 to drop. No matter how long it takes. 5.4L 4v S/C V8 > 4.6L 3v S/C V8. Especially with the numbers people are getting out of the Shelby's with some basic bolt on's and a tune.

Granted the Roush outhandles the GT500 in the twisties by far...

Bait and switch is illegal. And that's what the dealer who advertised one for sale to get you on the lot did. Tell him that and that you are filing a complaint with the better business bureau.
You simply cannot advertise something for sale and then it not be for sale. That's the law. Many dealers advertise really cheap cars and may actually only have one in stock. But unless they have at least one in stock, they are violating the law.
At one time, bait and switch was taken very seriously by the Better Business Bureau. It may still be. I would complain.
