So I have gathered that the Gila is taking a hiatus.

Now is the time for one of my seldom handed down Stangnet prophecies.

( those who doubt are more noob than Noobz :O_o: and might want to ask Mike why that image is in his signature )

The Gila will wait, yes. But only until Mrs. 1157 gets the idea that Mike is being a dick.

The Gila waits for no man. He is however, content to wait on the mistress. :)

Mark it.

If you read any Steven King books, you'll know that I stole today's intro from one of them. If you only watch the movies, well.......I'll start out by saying You poor bastard.

I take that back. There are two Steven King books that made excellent movies,.....The Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile. If you only watch those two S.K. movies, you won't know what I'm talking about here.

But,.......If you've watched the rest of the movies, you'll recognize it in a second. And,.......You poor bastard.

S.S.D.D.

Same S hit, Different Day.

On my last non-pictorial update I said (erroneously) that the roof was perfect. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
Now I know how that bone head that stood on the deck of an Aircraft Carrier in a flight suit and claimed that the Gulf war was over after a couple of weeks must've felt.

After the fiasco that is me trying to spray 2k primer, I let the Sahara desert dry enough to sand.

In essence,....I sanded the sand.

So see the bizarro world twist here?,......I'm fighting a war in a sandy desert, that I'm not winning, and getting my ass handed to me by a Terrorist Lizard fighting a Jihad against looking good..

I don't know why it's so freakin hard. Both the previous stuff, and now the new Summit 2k state in the instructions that no reduction is necessary, and to mix the primer 4:1 to activator. Doing that will have the new 2.0 tipped gun clogged and spitting large snot chunks of primer onto the car (along with the sand).

So I stop. I pour the paint back out of the gun into a mixing cup, and add a little reducer, and stir it in. It still looks too thick. I add a little more,....and then a little more. Finally after about a 1/2 ratio of the 4:1 (4:1:1/2) has been added to the mix, I restrain it back into the paint gun. And I start at it again.

Still does it,...only now I can at least move along.

F?

So, anyway......I digress.

After I get the roof re-sanded It is apparent that there are still low spots. If spraying primer was as easy as it is out of a rattle can, I'd probably just have added another coat of sand. But since I'm actually concerned that that may not be the best solution until I figure out what is wrong,....I let the roof be for today.

I finished and sealed (with a rattle can) the door jambs. I finished and sealed the G gills using the same. I sanded both quarters.

The driver's side is really close to being G.T.G., The passenger side isn't:eek:

The fuel filler door made things appear different than they actually were. After a round of blocking, the bottom of the opening was low. After more blocking,.....turns out that it wasn't actually low at all,......the area behind the opening was high. I've sanded so much trying to correct that that I'm actually into the body work.

So,...I added a little filler here and there and shut the garage. I seriously doubt that I'll get to work on it on Sunday.

And next week I'm going to some vacation rental house in the Keys for 4 days,....so I can be bored and get sun burned,

I can't wait.

When I get back,..I'll have my off day to spray some more sand on it, but on that Sunday I gotta go to Greenville S.C to BMW corporate for my formal training and that'll go through Friday. No monster for that week either......

But.......on the bright side I'll get to spend a day on BMW's test track,.....driving 80-125k M cars.... fast.

Sht Mike, you need this break. Seriously, I've been there with the bodywork and understand where you are at. Take a break, forget about the GD car:eek:.

The Monster is ultra cool, don't get me wrong, but YOU, my fellow, NEED a break from it. Period.

Come up with your smart ass stuff on being tough all you want, you need to go and forget about it for a short rest period. Go ahead, talk smack now.

Before you do, getting sunburned on the beach while drinking a beer (or sucking on a cocktail with an umbrella), sounds so incredibly sweet to me. You're not giving up on the Monster, your taking a freakin' break that you NEED!

You'll come back refreshed and ready to go, you know your mind, you'll be out there on the sand, pushing that umbrella out of the way with your nose, and it'll hit you. Another cool idea or two or three. Then you'll have time to ponder what to do with it while nobody is bothering you as SIT IN THE SUN ON THE BEACH WITH A DRINK IN YOUR HAND!!

So give me your sht Mike, then go take a break for a few days. Bodywork can be and is a frustrating endevour. It wears you down. I've taken breaks from working on vehicles hundreds of times over the years. You know why? I get so fcking frustrated I want to throw sht! I come back the next day and I'm ready to go.

I recognize the tone you have there buddy, you need this. It's not for ever, just a few nice days in the sand with your sweetheart and booze for good measure.

AND sht Mike! Then you get to go drive expensive cars really fast because somebody wants to pay you to do it.

I'm generally have a form of awe for the ideas you get and are able to put into form, now I'm just jealous as hell because of your mini-vacation.

PM me when you get back, we'll talk about the whole primer problem and get it working right.:nice:

Ok,.....you ready for it?....

You're right.

I was walking around in the grocery store withe the wife, and as I walked, opened your reply, and my attitude just changed.

So, I'll take your advice. The Monster will sit, ........and I'll sit......In a chair w/ an umbrella over looking the Atlantic Ocean.

Maybe I'll read another Steven King book..............Probably not.

If I read anything now days, It's Clancy, or Ludlum, or some other techno-thriller.

Thanks.

Clancy?! Ugh.. My attention span is definitely not long enough to read his books. I've tried. Never finished one.

I like all the detail. If you saw the movie the Sum of all fears,....He took an entire chapter to describe the detonation sequence of the nuc that the terrorists set off at the stadium.

Yeah, that drives me nuts. I get aggravated with my wife when she takes too long to tell a story. You'd probably like her.

James Patterson always is a good read as well.

I'm a big Stephen King fan myself, ever read Koontz's stuff?

Polar opposite here. Mine won't listen long enough to let me tell her one of mine w/o trying to fast forward to the end.

Sounds like an upcoming episode of Wife Swap to me......:leaving:

Hey mike, I have an idea for you.

Why not do a wrap? You could have a cool custom one with a Gila skin pattern.

Not real sure of the cost, but look at @84Ttop green mustang. It looks beautiful. He might be able to tell you a general price range.

I have considered looking into it but I'm not convinced that it is an alternative to a paint job. I like the idea that I could actually integrate some of the Gila's reticulated banding into the paint, but then I remind myself that the Gila ceases to exist when the car is done. Besides, I think the fact that a wrap ends at the jambs would bug the pss outta me.

In other words, The "Gila Monster" is the build. The car is a Cyclone. It'll have decals and that rear center detail stating as much. The door panels say it too.
Clearly, the slow moving part that I described on page one of this build that is associated with this car will not be the car itself. (Better not be, with an engine that should make somewhere in the 350-400 hp range, and 450-550 tq.)

It's me.
