5-lug spare?

What type of spare tire will fit over 5-lug conversion + 03 cobra brakes? Where is a cheap place to get one?

What about the spare off another vehicle? My new Mazda 3 wheels look like they have the same 5-lug bolt pattern as a Mustang.

With the Cobra brakes, you'll need a 17" spare. Any 94-04 Cobra spare should work.

You need a spare from a bullitt or cobra. All others came with a 16" spare which won't work on the front but will work on the back. You can run a 16" but if you have a flat on the front then you have to take one of your full size rears off, put it on the front and then put the spare on the rear. I got my cobra spare from a junkyard for $75 shipped. You can go here http://www.car-part.com/ and do a search of junkyards in your area.

I ended up going with the 16" GT Spare, but if I do get a flat up front I will have to swap a wheel from the rear to the front, no big deal.

The cobra spares are pretty expensive. It seems like the spare from another vehicle would work? Something else has to have the same bolt pattern?

A spare from another vehicle may work, just as long as it maintains the proper clearances between itself and the brake calipers. That's why Ford ran a 17" spare with the Cobra/Bullitt.

Ford 500/mercury montego spares may work.

They ran full-sized spares for a year or two but then switched to a compact spare.

They have 13" brakes and the same bolt-pattern as the Mustang...so it MAY work. I have not confirmed though

one suggestion... AAA -> free tow. If i get a flat i tow it to a tire shop or my house if they're not open. Save weight in the back /w no jack/spare.

Only down side is if you're in a hurry to get someone (job interview or a date...).

My fox is pretty low, so a tow would really mess things up and the one time i put it on a flatbed, it scratched my old tailpipes pretty badly.

Now, i always take a spare tire and if i go on a long cruise, i take a full sized 17" spare wheel with me.

scratched your tailpipes? Sue 'em... a good tow truck driver can tow it /w out damaging your car. He can jack th rear end up and put the rear wheels on dollies, then pullit it up on the flatbed.

But if you don't want the hassel, then I guess drop my idea.. my car is stock height so it's not even really a problem for me.
