strange noise comming from the motor

Ive been hearing this weird kinda tapping sound or clicking kinda sounds like lifters might be bad or a valve tap but it doesnt get to much louder when i give it some gas and sometimes the noise isnt even noticable. if anyone has any suggestions on what to do to try and fix this please let me know. i noticed the noise started when i switched to royal purple from mobil 1 oil.

Check your exhaust gaskets for leaks.

Seriously, check your header gaskets for leaks, probably between the head and header.

I'm just repeating this because often people say "I'm sure it's not an exhaust leak." Then after pulling the valve covers and checking all the rockers and lifters, they finaly get desperate, check the exhaust gaskets, and figure out that's the noise.

I've had ticking that I SWORE was a lifter, no WAY it was an exhaust leak... turned out it was.

Tapping sound

Also what kind of gas do you use? 87 or 93 Octane. I had the same problem with mine when I ran 87 Octane. But mine was when I was driving it. Thought this might help.

yea i checked the header bolts but my coil is also making a ot of noise its an msd tfi coil and i use 93 octane the noise seems to be coming from under the intake manifold
