anyone know where its at? I replaced my fuel pump forever ago, and dont remember seeing anything special down there that may have been the sending unit for the fuel gauge.I am almost sure it has to be attatched to the mess of jumk you pull out to replace the pump. My car is now doing this strange thing were the needle is past full until the gas light comes on at like the click right above the red mark for E. It should be a simple fix, and I dont like to walk... :D

funny thing is, I dont drive it everyday, so I never really noticed it was completely full.. Then i drove it to work yesterday, and I am on the toll road, and I was like.. When is the last time I got gas.. But it was full so I though maybe I just filled up and forgot... Not two minutes later the light came on, and the needle dropped down to like 1/8 a tank... Good thing I was almost home i guess...

:rlaugh: yea my guage does that too. cept when the light kicks on you got 5 mins or its dies lol. made a boo boo up there in my last post. the fuel pump assembly is on the pass. side of the tank. the sending unit is in the centerish of the tank. been about 5 years since i done a pump :D

I have never done one in a mustang....but I know some fords have a small brass or copper floater for a sending unit level gauge and sometimes the floater has a verry small hole and fills up with fuel after a long time and won't float anymore....

I have a brand new Ford OEM fuel tank sending unit (in box) that I never got around to installing on my notch. I'd be willing to trade ya' for some OEM H.O. top-end parts (intake manifold/TB/EGR spacer are what I really need) if you've got any lying around, or I'd at least sell it to ya'. It sucks that I can't use the same sending unit on my Town Car, as that thing has a faulty fuel gauge, too, and the O-ring seal for the sending unit/pump assembly in the tank is leaking. :(
