What can I use to clean terminals?

I fried the alternator boot on the terminal on the back of the alternator. The burnt rubber gunked the terminal all up. I've already used a wire brush on it, but there's still a bunch of stuff on there. What else can I use to clean the terminal? And has anyone replaced that wire before? I think mine is crap.

try some sandpaper.

heatgun heat it up and wipe it off beforeit cools then scotchbrite.

I had to replace the connector on mine it was so fubared. Ford has them in stock usually...I don't remember how much though. If you replace the wire, get some small wirenuts and electrical tape. Over tape it for extra protection.

Did you replace the alternator? What caused the problem was a bad voltage regulator...cheap Chinese crap.

I had replaced the alternator because of a wiring issue, which destroyed it. How do you replace that post? Do you have to take the case off the alternator?
