New torque converter. 3200 stall to much?????

Is it a DD and are you worried about gas mileage? Ive never had a stall in any of my cars but I know a few people that have and you like the stall or hate it. One of my friends put it in his 01 Lightning and took it out two months latter. Said he didnt like the way it drove on the street. MPG will drop a bit for sure though.

I dont really care if gas milage will drop a bit. And it is a daily driver but i dont drive far. I would really be driving it on the weekend though. Im just not sure if the stall will help with the launch or in the 1/4 passes. I've heard it can drop anywhere from .3 to .7 of et times.

meh, it depends on you - but it can be good for about .2-.4. It's expensive tho man, i'm having one built right now for me and it's definitely not cheap.

hey cobrared96gt what stall are you going with on yours? And yours is a 5 speed? Mine's an auto tranny. Im having the tranny built and the torque converter built. And it's definitly is pricey. But if it can help with my et's i dont care if the mpg goes down a bit.

3200 is too small for these cars. go with at least a 3600.. in normal driving you will notcie the rpm's will be a little higher when leaving a light or on throttle tip in , but when you get on it the rpm's will shoot up and you will FEEL the difference. I have yet to meet anybody that did not like a high stall converter. If you like your car to be fast then you will like a higher speed stall converter.

i have a 3900 stall triple disc on my supercharged automatic. if it was a daily driver, i probably would want it around 3500. the 3900 can get a little annoying when it sounds like you are racing even when you take off slowly from a stop. :D

Well, I got an Xcal2 from MPH and they programed in a stall. Seems to be around 3200-3500 not sure. But yes trying to move slow and keeping the rpms down in the moring is hard to do. DBMSTNG is right about sounding like your racing even when your just drivein normal but I like it, my car pulls so much more when I get on it.

I was thinking of a 3200 to 3600 stall. It is a daily driver. During the week i dont drive very far i use it more on the weekends. Right now im leaning towards 3600 stall. Do the 1-2 shifts soften up with a higher stall?

my guy out of Redding finished mine today, 3200 stall - which in my opinion after proly 50 pages of reading is best for my car. I only visit the track like 3 times a year if that, and it's my DD. Hoping to see some consistent 13.9's now tho

You can't program in a stall.. it's a physical part that needs to be installed. You had your shift points adjusted higher and line pressure increased..

as long as your happy but thats not much higher than stock, but if your concerned with mileage and don't drag race often then that should work for you.

it can, but that can be firmed back up with a J-mod and a tune. the better the converter you buy the less "softness" you will notice on upshifts.

i don't wanna sound stupid if i'm wrong, but stock stall is below 2400. Almost all TC shops offer a good brazed, TIG welded (or both) stock stall, then a high stall 2600-2800 then a high stall 3000+ model. Besides shouldn't your stall be around 600rpm below your peak torque?
