Is the 05-07 t3650 the smae as the 01-04 t 3650

I'm need of a another tranny for my 03 gt. stangparts has a brand new t3650 out of a 05-07 gt for $1000. Or a used one out of a 01-04 gt for $800. So will the 05-07 fit without any modifications.

I can't say with certainty, but I would imagine the trans is the same, but the bellhousing's might be different.

I thought the 05+ tranny was actually a 3550 and not the same 3650 found in the 02-04

It's a 3650.

Only factory Mustang to recieve a 3550 was the '95 Cobra R


Anyway, there are differences. The 05+ version uses a remote mount shifter and a hydraulic clutch setup. You'll need to change the bellhousing and tailhousing to use it on an older car. Real PITA.

Just stick with a 01-04 version, although the 03/04 version has a 0.63 5th while the 01/02 version has a 0.68 5th gear
