I'm trying to figure out where all of this bottom end torque that the KB has that a turbo doesn't. I just read a test where a Turbo whooped a Twin Screw's butt from idle to redline in HP & TQ. Turbos have evolved and have become more efficient. A Twin Screw or Centri making 500hp on 14lbs of boost can be handled by a Turbo making the same amount of power running only about 8lbs of boost. Not to say that all Turbos will beat all T/S, but pound for pound and pretty much evenly matched cars putting out the same amount of boost, the Turbo wins hands down.
I think a Turbo would make a better daily driver because the boost only comes on when you get down on it and need it. The T/S is working as soon as you turn the key and runs all the time. You can get down on a T/S a little bit and use and put about 5lbs of boost in your motor, whereas you may only see about 1lb of boost from a Turbo.
I've seen KBs on street races jump about maybe a car on a turbo, after that it was a wrap. The turbo went by the KB like it was standing still. Don't get me wrong, I love KBs, Centris, and Turbos. I personally prefer Centris, NOVI PAXTON 2000 to be exact....
It seems to me that Centris are like 3.90 gears. It's in between the T/S and Turbo like the 3.90 is in between the 3.73 and the 4.10. The 3.90 offers you the best of both worlds, gas mileage and performance.....just my .02
P.S. I think you'll be hard pressed to convince Tim Lynch to get rid of his twin hair dryers for a Twin Screw....Damn he has a sick Turbo car....
