Uneven front tire wear

My front wheels have a "cocked out" stance where they are farther out at the bottom than the top. They have gotten serious inner tire wear since they have been sitting like this. The inner edge of my tread is rounded off now and I've got only a few Ks left on these tires.

My question is, what is causing this and how do I fix it? I'm thinking it's the front suspension is shot.

It's negative camber, did you add springs and not align the wheels?

No, it's stock suspension from what I can tell. The springs look ancient.

you could jack the front end up and loosten the two bolts that hold the strut to the spindle and pull the top of the tire out hold it and tighten the bolts back up. It wont be perfect but it will be better.

Well is it a caster camber misalignment or a suspension problem? The tires stick farther out at the bottom than at the top giving it a "toe in" stance, but vertically instead of horizontally. I am going to need new tires very soon, and want to remedy the problem completely before I go and buy new shoes for the stang.

Subscribing....mines doing the same thing on the driver side, except the outer of the tire is rounding out, only thing i dont get alignment is fine, I checked it myself with 2 different machines and had a shop check it and show me the paper, only one was in the yellow but it wasnt anywhere that bad, what suspension part could it be, like balljoint or something?

sounds like you've got a negative camber problem. you should be able to solve your problem with a front end alignment, unless something is wore out.

camber is the angle at which the tire is tilted in or out if you're wondering.

Hey guys thanks for the input. I took it to my mechanic buddy today and it IS a camber problem. He said just get the tires aligned and it should fix the problem. If not, get camber spacers and put a few in each side to push the top of the tires out more.

That is probbably an alignment problem too. The driver side is needing an alignment, so just take it somewhere to get it aligned. Should fix the problem. I'm going to get mine fixed tomorrow. WEE!!

It's definitely a camber problem. Your front springs and / or struts could be worn too.
If you jack up the car your camber goes positive (top tips out)as the suspension goes through its arc. Just the opposite happens as you lower the weight onto the wheel. Camber goes negative (top tips in) as the spring and strut compress.

My 90 has had this problem for a few years now. I've had 4 different shops align it when it gets new front tires every spring because they wear so bad. The last shop told me that they have no more adjustment available and it still wore the inside of the tires.

The best way to fix this is get caster/camber plates, allowing for a buttload of adjustment room. Yesterday I put new struts and caster/camber plates on it, and new inner and outer tie rod ends. Today it got new front tires and it gets aligned tomorrow.

I think you should have it aligned, and if it still does it after that (which mine did) then you should get caster/camber plates.
