Who is running twisted wedge heads?

Here's what Anderson Ford Motorsport tuned mine to.

See my sig for mods. I dont think I added to my sig the fuel pressure regulator, PMS, or ignition upgrade that AFM did for me yet.

I may go with the trick flow just because they are a little cheaper. Plus it seems that a lot of you guys run these and make good power

I do want to point out TFS does not offer the option to use ped rockers

If you don't have stud rockers already ............

You gotta add in the cost of .......
stud rockers
hardened pr's
guide plates

Now ... I do wanna say ... I prefer stud over ped rockers anyway
but
On the flip side ... If you are looking at AFR's as well :)

You could use your current oem rockers, and maybe pr's as well
or
If you got some ped rr's at the time ... you could use them with the AFR's
which means
You could save a little money with those options

Final thoughts would be ...........

Both heads make good power :nice:
Many have done so with either choice :D

I have the first generation TFS TW heads with pedestal rockers. I think they should still make them that way. Anyway, I did end up with a failed valve guide shortly after I installed them. They were experimenting with cast iron guides back then. I sent them back to TFS and they sent me a brand new set of heads with bronze guides for free. Never had a problem since. I was running a FMS Cobra intake and switched to a TFS unit late last year and the new combo is great!

I think I saw some say on hardcore the geometry was not as good as it should be with ped rockers and the flexibility offered with studs was better with the design
of the heads.

Still ... As you said ... All that has been fixed :nice:

You have to run hardened pushrods with guideplates (stud mounted rockers). I got the TFS heads because of three major factors. First was price. They're definitely cheaper than AFR heads. Second was the ability to run a 2.02 intake valve. Try that with some AFR's (185cc model. 165cc heads run a 1.94 intake valve) and you'll end up with some severe piston to valve clearance issues. TFS gets away with it because they use canted valves instead of inline like the other manufacturers (Edelbrock, FRPP, AFR, etc.). The third was mainly just availability. Of the places that actually had the AFR heads in stock, some of which I had never heard of, I just didn't feel comfortable ordering them. I went on Summit Racing's website and ordered a pair. No BSing around, no searching for the best deal on the overpriced AFR heads, just click and wait a couple days for them to arrive.

AFR 165's have a 1.90" intake valve/1.60" exhaust valve.

AFR 185's would be recommended for aftermarket pistons.

AFR 165's have a better 'average' power than TW's but I really do like TW's a lot with the potential out of the box:nice:

I believe Summit and Jegs carry AFR's readily available. I know Jeg's does.

I found some stuff on TFS & AFR heads :D

Didn't have much luck with your cam choice

Only 1 combo out of just over 50 used a Steeda19 cam
and
It was with oem heads and intake
so
I did not include it as it just would not be a fair comparison
