High idle after timing advance

I adjusted my timing to about 13*-14* and now my idle stays around 1300-1500 rpms. Car runs fine no problems at all just a high idle. My setup is basically stock and my car is an '87 with speed dentsity. Anyone got any hints what it could be?

when you advance your timing, your idle advances as well. just turn it down at the throttle body.

yea i tried doing it with the idle adjustment screw but it was backout as much as possible already. Im guessing you know somewhere else there is an adjustment at, hopefully? wanna share with a newbie? lol

what's your tps voltage?

I'd look for a small vac leak or an issue with the IAC.

I'd pull the codes and then clear the KAM and see what it does.

Whats the KAM? I just had the car at the shop for vacuum leaks and a new IAC was installed all less the 600 miles ago and nothing was wrong with the idle before i adjusted the timing.

Ill check the TPS voltage tomorrow. I do know it was replaced at least a couple thousand miles ago beforei bought the car.......and i have the receipt showing me proof.

KAM = Keep Alive Memory. It's the puter's recollection of how it has adapted to accomodate issues with your car. Clearning it (disconnect the battery and turn on the headlights for 10 seconds to discharge the capacitors) can sometimes help. If your car had gone to some extreme adaptive parameter, it would take awhile to relearn where it should be. You will be starting off with a stock, unmodified baseline instead.

well i guess i will just take it back to the shop. the TPS voltage was .90 (measured with a Fluke), i did a KAM reset and still high idle. The IAC, ECT, ACT, PCV, EGR, EGR Sensor all have less than 600 miles on them. Maybe one of the sensors is defective in which case should still be under warranty from the shop. If anyone may have any other ideas please let me know.

anyone have experience with a code 82? I thinks its a solenoid for the smog pump. My 87 302 has the smog pump deleted and the high idle wasnt an issue before my timing adjustment.
