Well I was on my way home this morning, and what do I see? A dog in the middle of the road. I swerved to miss it and hit a tree. I am not sure yet but I believe it is totaled. I hope not. I just bought her 2 and half weeks ago. I have not even transfered the title to my name. I am kind of in shock right now. I woke up this morning and wanted it all to be a bad dream. I could not even look at the car, I had to put a sheet over it. Well I don't have much else to say, I am going to go know because thinking about it is kind of freaking me out right now. I will post pics when I have some.

well i am not sure how to proceed at this point. I had not upgraded my insurance yet to include collision. I just had liability. The car is not covered at all. I am going to have to find out if it is totaled on monday. I hope it does not cost to much to fix. just bummed right now. no car and no money to fix it. :(

there are a few rolling chassis' on here.....transfer the drivetrain and part what u don't use.....MHO

there was a dog. lemme get some pics real fast. If you guys can tell me whether or not it is totaled that would help me out. I think it is because the radiator is moved and I know once that happens it has pretty much gotten to the frame. I am taking pics now lemme know.

here are some pics

yes the airbags did deploy. Ok so now my next question is this. I am assuming that it is going to cost more than the car is worth to have it fixed. Am I assuming right? If the frame is bent (which is most likely is) should I bother to fix it should I just start taking it apart and parting it out? I know they are worth a pretty good amount in parts yes?

I'm with green gt.I would much rather hit a dog then crash my car or myself.
It does sound bad but...You'll feel bad for hitting ithe dog. But You'll feel even worse if you get hurt bad enough you can't work for a long period of time.
Sorry to sound negative.I always think the worst because I've seen it happen to a couple of people.

Good luck on the car pomag50. I hope everything will work out.Glad you weren't hurt

ya that things gone, what was the mileage? Unfortunately since the bags deployed there goes a large portion of the parts money. If you want to get rid of it I know a guy who parts mustangs...

So you gonna pass on that cobra intake now? :D

I don't thinks it even really about letting the dog take the hit to save the car. Most of the time in that situation it's a lot more reaction than thinking about it. And that's whether it goes one way or the other. I know I would probably try to miss it if I had time. But I also wouldn't be expecting to swerve into a tree...just getting around the dog  That seems like a combination of some pretty bad luck the way everything unfolded with you. I'm sorry to hear about that bud.

At least the dog is ok, thats the main thing IMO.
I disagree. The "main thing" is that HE is okay.

And yes, I would hit a dog if I could not avoid it without a bad wreck. Sometimes things like that happen so fast that you instantly react by swerving. Not always good.

Sorry to hear man. Hope it all works out for you.

badstang you are right. It was mostly about reaction more than anything else. the road that I live on is a small two lane road. on the left side there was construction night blinkers and on the other side was the tree and a small drop. so I really did not have much room to work with. I am going to post some adds on craigslist here. hopefully I will get some takers pretty quick. I am going to literally sell everything out of it. right down to the power windows.
