Hey guys, you are going to be seeing a lot of stupid questions coming from me in the next few months cause I am so new with 5.0 motors. I want to build a track car, don't plan on keeping it street legal, at least not in the long run. I have an 88 notch with just a 302 bored to a 306. I know the weak point in these cars is the block. What blocks can hold good power? Say over 600hp. Also, do 347 make good power or should i go with say a 408 or 410? Would a 408 or 410 be worth the cost and can you actually find parts for Windsors easily? Like I said, bear with me, I'm new to the 5.0's. I would like a 410 but I'm hearing that a 347 with a YSI trim Vortech can make some good power. Like what kind of power or quarter mile times can you see with a combo like that? Is a 347 big enough to run a big blower like a YSI trim? I could ask a million questions in the same thread so i better stop here. Cliff notes, what is a good power combo to get an 88 notch into the 10's at the strip, with or without power adder (no nitrous though, car already has it on but I hate refilling bottles). Help a mod noob out please. I'll wait to get into the whole what heads and cam later. I'm just excited about my new toy and want to make it haul ass.
