new to stangs and gears

The search function will yield a wealth of information.

As far as the gears, I assume you have not done this before. Pick up a set of FRPP gears...worth the extra couple dollars then find a reputable shop and have them perform the install. You can pick up a basic install kit or have the shop do it. Either way, it'll probably run about the same cost. You will also need a tuner to program for the gear swap. The car will not run properly otherwise. You can get either a Diablo Sport Predator or a SCT Xcal2; they both run $400.

Hope that helps...

My install cost just over $500 including parts at a local speed shop pretty much dedicated to Ford(mostly Mustangs and Lightnings)vehicles. The tuner, be it from Brenspeed(where I purchased mine)or Bamachips with their custom tunes loaded will allow you to not only adjust for the new gear(and numerous other options) but will make your car a beast compared to stock.

I had just over 13K on mine and they didn't use a kit. At that time, the guy had done over 30 of the '05+ with no problems(I definitely was asking questions:D ). They are a sponsor of the local Mustang club so I feel confident with their knowledge.
