MSD Wires

Do MSD wires fit decently or are they really long like a lot of aftermarket wires?

They fit but for me they fit a bit to snug and I through mine away (ripped a couple of them when removing them from the boot) and went with Taylor wires and I'm very happy with them.

They were a little short for me too. I'd have liked to route them around the front and down the tops/sides of the VC's. No way could I do that though.

I have Taylor wires on mine (were on there when I bought it) They fit well and look nice.

they fit fine for me but you have to bend the ends that go on the spark plugs and while working on my car a few of them broke at the bend when I took them off.

I bought a set of 'cut to fit' taylor wires along with the Summit Racing crimping tool. I gotta tell ya....

I will NEVER buy another set of pre-made wires again!!! I can't tell you how tickled I was when it was all done and everything was routed perfectly, not touching any part of the engine or bay that it wasn't supposed to... it just... well... nice!

As far as wire brands go, I know that there are a lot of excellent wires out there and that there's probably very little difference in overall performance from one to the other but this set of Taylor wires took care of the 'buzzing' noise that I had in the CB that I install for road trips. Their item description wasn't joking or exaggerating when they said that they were quiet. No more engine whine through the CB and my idle smoothed out quite a bit over the old FMS wires that I had installed.

In fairness though... The FMS wires were roughly 7 years old and a replacement set of the same may have cured the noise as well.

Bottom line -- Cut to fit are the way to go, regardless of your favorite brand.

Exactly what happened to me which for the price I was a bit pissed at how easy they broke off (less then 3 weeks old). As Daggar mentioned cut to fit is a great way to go. I did a set (MSD) with a buddy of mine on his 455 c.i.d 76 Pontiac Granprix and man when we were done they were perfect. My next set will be cut to fit.

I'll deffinetly do the cut-to-fit next time. I got the pre-made MSD's and man are they ever tight, seems like some of them are under tension... They've been working fine for me, and no signs of the boots melting near the headers or anything. Angled boots would also work better than the straight boots though.

I've used MSD a few times in the past. The boots always come apart when you try to remove them. I bought Ford Motorsport wires the last time I changed them and they fit good with the exception of the coil wire which is way too long.

I think that might be the route that I go, I can reuse my current coil wire since it isnt that old.
