The 2007 Official College Football Thread

Uh-oh, where's COramprat? LSU isn't looking too good against Florida :)

Spoke too soon huh?

I was upper section 234...under the scoreboard in the student section.

I really didn't think we would pull it out. In the 3rd quarter they flashed the USC/Stanford final on the light ribbon and then announced the score to the stadium. The place went nuts...the players were jumping around and the whole building felt like it was moving. Then Florida marched right down the field and scored that TD. It was as if the air was let out. The place got real quiet...but the team stayed with it and after that interception and score you could feel it was coming back. That was one of the loudest games ever at the end...largest crown to ever wathc a game in the state of Louisiana.

Plus...

WE ARE NUMBER 1 BABY!!!!

no matter what u say that was a great game and LSU won the game. two teams bustin there ass the hits were massive anyone who made it past the line of scrimmage got rocked cant ask for a better game.

well, after all that, good job by lsu. i thought we were going to have it, but we slipped up, and gave away our win. at least it wasnt such a "blowout" as some said it would be.

oh, and our quarterback stayed in the whole game :)

it shouldnt drop florida, but i'm sure it will. we played real well vs number 1, but nobody in the voting booths really "likes" florida, so we'll probably drop a good bit.

and, yeah, i was glad usc got proven overrated

LSU didnt win it, Florida pissed it away. Up 10 points and driving, fumble to setup an easy short field for LSU, then the pick in the 4th again short field.
The game is 60 minutes long. A lot can be said for the resolve of the LSU defense. They stayed in the game and forced turnovers (the fumble didn't get anything...remember the second missed field goal?). All part of the game. LSU pissed away 2 field goals that would have actually put us ahead before that last Florida scoring drive. So before you call Florida for pissing away a win you have to credit a team that was for all purposes out of the game and stayed with it. Two forth and ones and a goal line push at the end that had to be reviewed...Florida didn't give a damn thing away. They fought hard.

USC pissed away their game...

i must say, those 4th down runs by miles were ballsy. i was amazed he attmpted some of them, and depressed we didnt stop them. :(

but i must say that also, the FU tebow chant was pretty dang classless.... but whatever, it's college football, that's how it goes. i hope hope hope tennessee loses again (pretty likely) and we get lsu again in atlanta. that could be fun :)

No the fumble did not get LSU any points, but it was a huge swing in momentum which is incredibly important in college football. Florida was driving easily down the field and had all the momentum. The fumble killed that all, they could have easily been up 17 points and it would have been extremely unlikely LSU would have came back from that far down.

Tebow came over to the Student section after that TD he scored and pretended he was dialing a phone...somehow his cell number got posted and he had a bunch of calls from LSU fans. His in-box was full of messages. I agree the chant was classless though. There has been ALOT of talk about that locally fro games in the past and I'd imagine the University is going to hit the students with some form of penalties. Students have been asked to tone it down and the band has quit playing certian songs due to the tasteless chants but some students take the imaturity further by organizing ways to make it worse. They will only make it hard on them in the form of pulled tickets and such. Not sure how they will handle it though.

I DO NOT WANT TO PLAY FLORIDA AGAIN...that's for damn sure. So now I'm a big South Carolina fan. I think we can beat them again and in 2003 we beat Georgia twice and most people didn't give us a chance to win the second time. The first game in '03 against Georgia was pretty much like last night against Florida. Georgia pretty much held LSU down all day but we came back with a lucky TD to win 17-10.

Turnovers are part of the defensive pressure any team can force on an offense. A stripped ball from a running back or a safety waiting in the flat to pick one off...it is all part of a game plan. Just like a bomb down the sidelines or a kick return for a TD. Those are momentum changers too. The only time you can say a team gives away a game is when a team under estimates another team (USC/STANFORD) or a team turns the ball over 4-5 times in a game.

I still point out the 2 missed field goals by LSU...those would have put them up by 3 in the 4th instead of down by 3. Those were lost opportunties like the fumble and interception were for Florida. You really can't call the fumble a momentum changer since the Florida defense held us to no points. That should have put it back into their laps. Our D just stepped up and held so the offense could get back on the field.

We will agree to disagree, but anytime a team is driving pretty easily to possibly take a 17 point lead and fumbles, that is a momentum changer. It gave LSU hope that they were still in the game. They would have been deflated if UF would have scored.

I agree the LSU defense was impressive in the 2nd half. The whole USC losing thing got the whole LSU team excited and that definatly put some pep in their step.

Then Florida marched right down the field and scored. I thought it was over then. But they kept playing until the end. They gave up nothing. That is what impressed me. They had every opportunity to throw in the towel. Hell Jacob Hester (that RB for LSU) pretty much willed his way to first downs. He had the Florida defense on it's heals.

That one will go down as one of the greatest games in Tiger Stadium. Everyone will talk years form now about that one and people will say they were there. If you ask 10 years from now and count everyone who says they were there it will reach 200,000.:rlaugh:
