Woohoo! The coolest thing happened to me tonight!

I decided to go pay a visit to the previous owners of my car. It's been two years since we bought it, and I hoped they still lived in the same house. It turned out better than I expected...

Suddenly he asks me..."Do you want some performance parts?"
Me: "Uh...sure!"
Him: " I took them off when I sold it as to not scare any buyers away...i thought it might be a little too fast for them"
Me::D

So he grabs this box and hands me 3 things from out of it...
1. A huge air-cleaner from K&N
2. A sensor that connects to the throttle body
and
3. a PERFORMANCE CHIP!!!!!!!!

I was so freaking excited.

So now that I'm trying to put these things on I have a few questions...

1. the connector for the Throttle Body...does it replace a cable, or just go inbetween the old connector and TB or what?

2. Where's the computer for the fox?...I know its down (or up) by the glovebox...the instructions arent that specific.

Not to bring ya down but you shouldn't be seeing much performance from that stuff overall. But anyway, take the kick panel off, and look upwards. The EEC is right there. Have fun, it's a bitch the first time.

supposed to be some kinda of throttle response gadget. Out of the box those Jet chips (and others) are basically worthless as I mentioned above. WITH a custom tune on it it'll be even worse for you because it'd now be meant to work with parts you don't have.

VERY good point. A tune is a tune for a specific setup...if any one part of that is missing then the tune on the chip is completely worthless. (unless of course you single out that one missing part and replace it).

Well, he had them on the car before and I really havent done anything to the car since then, soo...

Besides...he just gave them to me...for nothing! I know its not gonna give me a whole lot more...but c'mon...free horsepower.

K, so I just take this nut off and then its in that module?

That sensor thing goes inline on the TPS, what it does is when you are at 70% throttle it gives a 100% open reading to the computer. Never used one before. My Cobra has a Jet chip too and I thought they were bull $%!@ but when I removed it I saw a huge SOTP difference. Also with it out the car would not keep the tires lit all the way through second or bark them in third, with the chip it can

See that ash gray piece of metal right between the gray plastic and the insulation? That's the rest of the EEC. It's about 7" tall. That's also held in by a (10mm?) bolt wayyyyy up top, which you will have to feel for. The bolt you circled is only half the situation, and the easy part ;)

The chip goes onto the other side of the EEC that you can't see when installed.

For the record i'm just stating the worst case.....wouldn't it suck if we were all like "YEAH man throw ALL those parts on!!!" and then your car ended up running like total garbage?

Dont worry, I understand that. Thats why I asked because I dont want anything to go wrong...

thanks for the info all of you guys...I'm done now, so I'm going out for a test drive!:D

:D That was fun!

Yeah, I noticed an improvement. throtle stayed open longer, quicker, and it got from 50 to 65 in about a second.

Did i also mention that this guy threw a 4.10 rear end in this thing?
I thought it was fast for a convertible.

drivers seat dyno never works. it may feel faster but it may not be, got me a jet chip once and sold it and even felt bad doing that. our club had a dyno day and I did a run with it and w/o this was a while back and I would have to dig the sheet out but I lost hp. the problem is most of the shelf chips tune conservative and in my case I was running rich, has I was doing my pull my air/fuel started going off the chart and it killed me. we pulled the chip and it improved and I gained my hp back. since that time I have put a better exhaust on, headers, a drop in k&N, bumped the timing and it feels even better. when i do other mods I'll go custom tune...only way to go.
