UPS shipping prices lately

I never use UPS or FedEx unless I absolutely have to. Aside from the fact they're rediculously priced with their shipping costs, their Brokerage Fee's coming across the Canada/US border are absolutely retarded!!! I always use either of the Postal Services if I can get away with it.

I just checked to see what it would cost me to buy tires for my Explorer from Tire Rack this afternoon. The price on the tires themselves was fine, but they wanted $220 to ship them to Canada. No thanks....I bought them locally and still got them cheaper in the end. :nonono:

UPS is going down!!!

there are lawsuits against them in Ontario and also in Alberta ( I believe) right now, it's over their "brokerage fees" and such...

Basically there should be little to no fees (look at Canada post when you import stuff... or usps)

UPS decides what things are worth... I had purchased some things for very cheap and UPS decided they were worth alot more, so on the amp I bought... it was $102 (product) $40 (shipping) and $62 (ups "brokerage and duty fees")

They even charge brokerage and duty on things built in the US as well... (which they are not supposed to)

I am not shipping by them to cross the border ever again, until the unfair trade practices are settled in court.

:never-ending rant:

I HATE UPS WITH THE MOST HATRED I CAN POSSIBLY HAVE IN MY MIND AND BODY!!!

Yup, with crude oil approaching $100.00 per barrel, what do you expect? Shipping costs in every industry (land or by sea) are increasing :notnice:

Yes!! An that makes me mad because we offer delivery services in our business. We sell used auto parts. Local is free. When you start to get into places that are 60-80 miles away and we put a 10-20 dollar fuel surcharge....they laugh at us and don't pay it.

I feel your pain...

From what I understand, UPS uses another company (your assigned "broker") to track and pay, on your behalf, any duty that your package may incur when shipping items across the border. This company charges a flat rate fee of $40 on top of the duty. So, if my product incurs $10 in duty then the brokerage company charges you $50 ($10 duty and $40 "fee") then they add that as a COD to your package and you must pay that to get your package.

The worst part is that when you call UPS and complain you get the "Our brokerage fees are in line with the other companies in the market.. blah blah.."

Load of crap IMO...

I realize this is an old post, and I have nothing to add except that most US companies will send your purchase by US postal service if you ask them. They know we Canadians get the shaft everytime something is brokered by a UPS company. If you are close to a border you have the item shipped to the closest UPS depot and pick it up yourself to avoid the brokerage fees.

less of a pain in the butt than having to go to the post office stand in line for an hour and then have someone be rude to you.

This is the only time of year where you will stand in a long line at the Post Office. We have constant inspections for window service and if an inspector waits longer than 5 minutes in line it's a failure, and asses get chewed. You don't have a clue the crap we have to put up with customers each day. We get sworn at and threatened with violence all the time. STFU nOOb.
