I can't speak for redline but I feel like the pats get bashed on here.. people like you that want to scream "cheaters" and make up their own NFL rules and distort facts get me bent out of shape..

Like how you tried to make a point that the pats did this before because they were sent a letter..

You failed to mention that the same letter was sent out to every team, because the patriots were not the only team videotaping from the sidelines, all teams were warned.

That is either distorting the facts and intentionly trying to mislead people to support your side of the argument or you don't know the facts and your just saying anything to make a point.

It's not smack talking when you and others call that cheating.. it's just silly banter that can not be backed up.... If it was the ravens or the seahawks or any other team that was involved in this then you would not even care.

All I know is that there have been major rumblings from alot of NFL teams about the Patriots and their well lets just say tactics. Not just taping but other issues.

Yes the Commish sent the letter to everyone, but all I heard before the game and especially after they got caught was that it was sent in response to allegations that Belichick was illegally taping things they shouldnt. And no I dont have transcripts from those games/sportscenter, etc to prove it to you.

First of all it was cheating. I dont know how I can possibly explain that any clearer. But I ask you to tell me something, IF it did not make any difference as you would make it out to seem, they why risk doing it?

But to your point about if it was the Seahawks or Ravens no one would care. You are 100% right because those teams arent contenders year in and year out. If it was the Colts, Yankees, Red Sox, Pistons, Spurs, Mavericks, etc then it would be just as big of a deal. Like it or not the status of a team or player has alot to do with the **** they get.

For instance, if it was a third string RB from the Miami Dolphins being caught dog fighting it would have been a page 3 article for 1 day. But with Mike Vick its a year long ordeal that wont go away.

Also take Steriods in baseball, people can name Bonds, Giambi, Sheffield, and McGwire but only 1 of those 4 got caught and many other have but no one knows or cares who they are because they are a fringe player.

Many talking heads and media people said and wrote things that did not make sense or pure speculation in the weeks following this scandal.. Much of it was later found to be blown out of porportion or flat out false.

So it's cheating because you say so? or because some media types want a big story? How about the stuff about this that I pointed out in my other posts.

First off many of the "cheating" crowd seems to be making up stuff to substantiate the cheating claim or to keep the story going..

SO you want me to buy that taping signals from any other place but the sidelines is ok, but to do it from the sidelines is cheating.. sorry.. You may be able to get some others to fall for that but not me..

See there is a MAJOR difference between this and steroids in baseball. There is no case where it's ok to use steriods in baseball where in this case it is ok in 99.999 percent of places to videotape from to use these tapes... big difference right there..

I made my point very clear and even gave the logical reason to do it.. BTW as further proof that it's really not a big deal, belichick had to have known the person taping would be caught.. Hell it was in clear view of the public.

Now you might ask why would belichick do it if it was obvious what they were doing???

To be honest I think the rule is retarded and outdated in this day and age and only provides a advantage to the home team.. seriously if your going to let teams tape why do you care if they tape from the sidelines rather then from where the home team wants you to tape from. I bet Belichick feels the same way. I don't know the man but he seems like the type that is cocky enough to not give a crap if he got caught in a minor infraction of a rule he finds retarded.

Not to rain on the denial parade :D


But every publication i have read thus far has a little astrix (*) next to the patriots name and record.. Underneath the polls have a little key box that states " *= caught cheating". Even if they go undefeated 19-0... that little astrix will be there, making sure people remember what happened during that jet game, and how they bent and broke the rules.. much like barry bonds :shrug:

The only arguments I have are these.. If its not in the rule books, and taping from the sidelines is NOT in the rule books, then it technically is cheating. You can accept whatever you like, but when someone tells you not to do that, and you go ahead and do it anyways, your breaking the rules.

As far as proving HOW they used it to thier advantage, that will be virtually impossible and you know it. It's impossible because not one of is in ever in that locker room, and we don't know how they review tapes. They can review them and they very well may help them alot. A 1 on 1 perspective may be a better view to intercept a signal then a birds eye view i dont know, im just trying to say that proving they used it to benifit is hard to prove. Much like Bond's and others taking roids. We don't know what areas it actually helped improve thier games. It could have made them better hitters but slower in the field, but unless someone were to do medical tests on him, who knows :shrug: Where roids and taping signals from an illegal place are the same, is that they break the rules. Thats where they are the same. Doing things teams and players are not allowed to do to have an unfair advantage against the competition.


And im sorry, but if it were any other team caught cheating, i think it would have been a big deal as well.. they would still be tarnished for the entire season with the little astrix. Well with the exception of miama,, they are just horrible :rolleyes:

Lets put an end to this. Commish said it was cheating. pats were fined and lost their 1st round draft pic (even though they will have the no. 2 pic in the draft). OK? No one on here knows the entire story. All we get is what the media said. The media sucks. They distort so much that you never know whats true and whats gossip.

And for the record I am not making up my own rules to bash the Pats. I am going on what the word of Goodell said. They were caught, punished, move on.

holy **** are we back to this topic? i thought there was more important things to speak on in the nfl but i guess not. and for teh record im gonna save all my chetain talk till after they win teh superbowl this year that way itll make redline a lil madded then :) wub u redline.

Drew Brees looked pretty good last night. Too bad he couldn't up his passing game in other match ups. They need to quit trying to give everything to Reggie so he can make the highlight reels and concentrate on playing like Brady

It's a sad time in the NFC when a team like the Saints that are 6-7 have a real chance at the playoffs :( Hopefully, they are coming alive and can be competitive if they make it

Last year gmen made it into the playoffs with an 8-8 record :rlaugh:



You can look at it two ways.. Either the NFC is just weak, OR they aren't weak, and are just really competitive and evenly matched????

Bobby Petrino abruptly resigned Tuesday as Atlanta Falcons coach after 13 games, and multiple sources told ESPN he is negotiating an agreement to become the new coach at Arkansas.

Petrino and his agent had been talking with the Falcons about his preference to return to the college ranks. He had only left Louisville in January, agreeing to a five-year, $24 million contract to coach the Falcons.

Arkansas had no immediate comment on its coaching search, but called an 11:30 p.m. ET news conference in Fayetteville for a "major announcement." Petrino is expected to attend.

Citing the team as its source, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on its Web site that Petrino phoned the Falcons about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday and resigned. Petrino and the team agreed he would not coach the Falcons' remaining three games.

The Falcons declined further comment beyond a terse, two-paragraph statement released Tuesday night. Owner Arthur Blank and general manager Rich McKay were scheduled to hold a news conference at 2 p.m. ET Wednesday.

Petrino and Arkansas do not have a deal, the sources told ESPN, but once one is in place, Petrino is expected to be paid around $3 million a year to succeed Houston Nutt, who resigned after a tumultuous season and hours later took the Mississippi job.

Petrino did not answer his cell phone or a call placed to his Atlanta-area home by The Associated Press. His brother, Falcons receivers coach Paul Petrino, declined comment when reached on his cell phone.

The funny thing was during the MNF game Arthur Blank was saying how he supported Petrino and his job was secure and how good a coach he was.

Sucks for the Falcons, but good for Arkansas. It will certianly make the draft more interesting beause there were rumors Atlanta wanted Brohm because of the Louisville connections. Wonder how far Brohm will fall now.

the no discussing the spygate thing in here was my rule.. and I am sick of being falsly accused of " abusing" some so called powers on here so that rule is out the window..

If you want to make your own rule then go ahead, your name is on the door in this section.

I am not taken any mod actions in this thread at all Even if I see **** I will not remove it. I will report the post to another mod.

Let somebody else handle it in this thread and any sports threads is my new policy.
