Lesner in UFC

For those who haven't seen it and want to....http://www.thaplace2be.com/ufcarchives.html

I didn't think he came in cocky at all. Sure, he was pumped up, but it was Mir who was the one that was so calm he looked like he'd just woke up from a nap? Yes, Brock's inexperience is apparent, but I disagree with you that he's not a great hitter. He put Mir on his ass with one punch after Mazzagatti put them back together and landed about 90% of the others he threw while Mir was on his back. If anything, I'd say for such an experience fighter with so many fights under his belt, Mir was the one who did the half assed job. He got taken down with ease within the first 5-seconds of the fight and then ate Lesnars fist shortly afterwards. Had Lesnars ground game been where he wanted it to, Mir would have been toast! I thought all things considered, Lesnar did an exceptional job! :nice:

All of Lesnar's pre fight interviews basically can be chalked up to him saying "I will land 1 punch and Mir will tap out or get knocked out". I find it hilarious that someone like Lesnar who should EXCEL at a ground pound fight couldn't submit Mir when he had him down. You could tell during the last 20 or so seconds that Mir was just setting him up to get him into a leg lock and force the tapout...thats where the brains come in.

I guess I don't really agree that someone has to appear pumped up or ready to go in order to actually be ready to go. Some people appear completely calm and reserved and then come out and kick complete ass...I think in that regards you can't really compare Mir's pre-fight hype to Lesnar's. I still find it funny that Lesnar thought he could just muscle his way through the fight and yet after landing MUTLIPLE well delivered hits, Mir was still ticking just fine.

I will never like Lesnar or any WWE-type person though so that is partially where my hate for him stems. Just looking at the guy without hearing him talk my first thought is "wow he looks completely retarded"...then when he talks, it leaves no doubt in my mind that he's a complete idiot. Sure he's huge, muscular, and could probably kick my ass in 1 second flat if he caught me...but all that power without a brain behind it is as good as useless.

I was shocked by the deduction but I agree with it, one hit from lesner in the back of the head could seriously cause permanent damage

I'm glad Mir won he deserved it. I think Lesner can potentially become a beast in the UFC if he continues to train, I would like to see how he performs in the 2nd and 3rd round however...

Lesner really does look like the classic big dumb retard though

I saw this interview and thought I'd post it here:

Mazzagatti On Why He Issued A Point Deduction Against Brock Lesnar:

These fighters are extremely skilled fighters, and a grappler like Frank, that’s what they’re trained to do: when you have a guy in half guard on top of you, you don’t want to give the guy room to punch. So that was Mir’s defense. You suck up close to (your opponent’s) chest, tuck yourself up under them, and that covers you from getting hit. At first, Brock started to do the right thing by winding up with the hook from behind and pushing Mir’s head away from his stomach. Then you can blast him in the face… but to have to worry about getting struck in the back in the head in a situation like that isn’t something Frank should have had to worry about. But that was a target that presented itself to Brock.

Mazzagatti On If He Tought The Strikes To The Back Of The Head Were Intentional Or Not:

I don’t think it was through any fault of his own. It was just there for him, so he started coming down with that hammerfist. But the back of the head is not a target you can take. And honestly, we see it all the time.

Mazzagatti On Whether Or Not He Issued Lesnar A Warning:

Yeah, I did. Brock’s excited. It’s a big, big opportunity for him, and — in my opinion — he looked down and saw the head there, and he took three shots at him and caught him. I jump in and say, “Don’t hit at the back of the head.” A few more seconds go by, Mir tucks up under there again, and Brock comes down with the second couple hits to the back of the head. That’s when I jumped in and had to do my job. That’s what I saw. I can’t say that he heard it. I yelled it loud enough for them to hear. It was awfully loud. I yelled it, though. I’ve got kids, so I know how to yell. [laughs] I used to be in a rock band, so I’ve got some lungs.

Just watched it...i gotta say Lesner is gonna be a force to be reckoned with once he gets some experience and maybe more ground skills. If you can't get out of submissions you're not gonna last in MMA no matter how badass you are. His size and strength are impressive and he moves faster than you'd expect for his size. I think he lost to a rookie mistake and i think he'll learn from it.

I think the -1 point so quicked served as a future warning as well

This is kinda off topic but I didn't think it was worth a whole new thread.

Luiz Alves, the muy thai trainer for Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, was recently interviewed by the Brazilian news site tatame.com and has made some interesting remarks concerning Nog’s recent victory over Tim Sylvia. Alvez made the claim during his interview that “the Americans” were using baby cream which would not become slippery until it came in contact with sweat.
