just weighed both c8 rod and 1997 explorer 5.0 l f2te-ba rod . c8 rod weighs 19.754 oz and f2te rod weighs 19.913 oz both mesured without piston/bearings but with rod bolt and nut in place on a digital scale. rod cap on f2te rod looks beefier than c8 rod could account for slightly more weight

Good info The two rods I saw broke were broken at the shoulders above the cap. Around the bolt face area. Pretty sure these were F1TE rods, I don't recall seeing F2's. Could be Ford made a change to fix the problems with the F1 to F2's.
