Was just wondering cause I would like to move my 285/40 Goodyears to the front (just checked and no rubbing issues) and I can get some Nitto 555 in 285/40/17 cheap. The Goodyears fit the stock wheel fine so I figure the Nittos will too unless they are like BFG and run wide.

So does anyone know if Nittos run wider than Goodyear GS-Cs or not?
Thanx ya'll :nice:

Nitto's usually run pretty narrow, there 315 is comparable to a 285 from what I have read on various forums.

I just got my 315/35/17 dr's the other day. I laid them next to my 275/40/17 dr's that I ran last season and there is only maybe 1" difference in the two.

Here's a couple cellphone pics...

Cool and thanks guys, looks like I will be scoring a pair of Nitto 555 285/40/17 with 2000 miles on them for $60 mounted and balenced  Im gonna put the newish GS-C 285s in the front and the Nittos in the rear, should be a decient combo with good gripp. The GS-C are wonderfol for lateral gripp but the just dont bite under power and if I heat them for 3 sec to clean and prep they seem more slippery by a large margine :( So I hope the Nittos have better bite, Ill let yall know after they are in if they grip better than the allmighty $420 each GS-Cs on there.

IMO, on the street, Nitto dr's are great! They hook better than any street tire I have used. On the track, they aren't so great as a drag radial. I ran some last year and got over 10,000 miles on them and they still have some tread left.

The picture looks more like 1.5 inches to me, which would be about 40 mm.

But I do think my 305 Nitto DR's don't seem quite as wide as other brand's I've seen in that width.

Hey Laser, where you finding all these cheap tires, dont you live
in the Dallas area?

I agree with UM. Just like the 275 Nitto's I had on 17X8 wheels..perfect. I had 275 Goodyear GSC's on a 17X8 rim, and I could barely mount them they were so wide....plus the bulge was way too much!

I think im about 80 miles south of DFW
Place called Tripple L tire by me (only 25 miles) gets them and reciently has been getting some nice tires in. I forgot who said the GSC run big, but I have 285's on my stock Cobra wheels and they look great with no bulge. There is a post from me called "Do these look narrow?" or something like that and you can see for yourself. When I put the Nittos off to the side last weekend they looked wider than the GSC, but only a little. Hope they fit, guess we will see
