I have the dark charcoal non leather interior in my 07 GT. My wife owns a 2007 Ford edge with the non leather charcoal interior. I've always hated the headrests in the mustang and I was cleaning the inside of the edge today and realized how much smaller the rear headrests in the edge were. So i got the bright idea to swap them and tada....they match perfectly.

For you leather guys they may not match but if you could get the part # for the rear headrests from an Edge it may be a worth while option.

That is a good find on your part if it makes it nicer and more comfortable:nice: Does your wife know about the swap?????
I've never had a problem with the Stang headrest, even with a helmet on.

I must just be at the right height but they bug the heck out of me. I don't like reclining my seat more than necessary just to keep my head from bouncing against the headrest. This allows alot more room and in my opinion looks better but still serves the same funciton.

The wife thought it was cool.

I'm not a big fan of the stock headrests either. I've gotten used to the positioning for normal driving, although when I first got the car they were really distracting. The problems now is that the driver's side head rest is always in my way when I look out the driver's side quarter panel to make a lane change.

And they are really in the way when you are wearing a helmet. I have to recline my seat further than normal when racing. It's not a big deal when drag racing, but when doing any kind of road racing event having the seat in an uncomfortable position is distracting at best.

I have leather, but i'll be looking for some of these headrests, great find.

If you guys are only worried about racing why just pull them off at the track or put them on backwards?

Yes, it will defeat their purpose, but putting something not intended to be used there is doing the same, maybe to a lesser level...

I actually like the headrests in the S197's..so much that I had'em customized :D

They are angled that way to prevent whiplash. In an accident, the head rest should hit your head squarely in the middle. That is why they are designed that way. I'm 6'4'' and I have no problem with them. The headrest are really not headrests. They are not meant for you to rest your head on them while driving. I have never had a problem with it hitting the back of my head and I've never had them touch the back of my head. Must be a problem for people that have the seat more vertical. I have to have the seat all the way back and reclined quite a way for me to fit without hitting my head on the roof. My 90 LX is horrible. My head actually rubs to the roof.. I can't recline it any more because I wouldn't beable to reach the shifter.

That's what I do for auto-cross; flip it around. With the helmet, you're still pretty close to the headrest in that situation.

everybody sits at a different comfortable angle with the seat, and for some that angle pushes the headrest into thier head. For competition, I sit a little more upright, which would worsen the headrest thing if I didn't flip it around.

I hate the stock headrest, I'm 5'5" and they hit me square where a ponytail would go and it drives me nuts. I would love to find something else that would work better and match my interior on my CS. Any suggestions?????

pull the headrest, remove the cover, take to the embroidery shop, lay down some cash, wait, wait, and wait some more, then pick them up and reinstall.
