im in the process of putting new motor and trany mounts in my 5.0. im not sure how to remove my drive shaft and when im jacking up my motor and trany to install the new mounts should the car be level?
Driveshaft removal is easy. Get a 12mm 12 point box end and remove the 4 bolts that hold the drve-shaft to the pinion of the rearend. Then slide the slip joint out of the tranny. As far as being lvl for the install it isn't as important. Just jack up remove and reinstall. Remeber not to get your fingers somewhere they can get pinched and squished.
You do NOT have to pull the driveshaft out to swap tranny mounts. Just unbolt the 4 mount bolts, jack the trans slightl off the crossmember, and swap the mounts.
Its always better to find a way of doing things without pulling the DS out, it always makes a friggin mess and you have to top off the trans fluid.

lol why didn't I catch that. I was just answering his question. MAn obviously you do not have to pull DS. going to be hard to remove with h-pipe connected though isn't it? if you have to remove h-pipe then the DS is going to have to come out.
i have to put in a new drive shaft anyway because i drove with bad mounts and it warped my old one like a c haha. when i put a new one in, should i go for an aluminum one? also how do i put new trany fluid in?
the reason im replacing the mounts is because my old ones wore out so bad, the pitch of my engine changed and put all the preasure on my ds. when i put in the new mounts and the new ds will that straighten out the angle of my engine?
