recently instally tko 600 n saw that my flywheel is lookin a lil worn, wondering if its a good investment for a fidanza aluminum one, i was thinking...60% lighter n more durable than stock so ive heard, so doesnt sound too bad..wat ya guys think??
I've never driven a car with an aluminum flywheel.
I HAVE heard that it is not a really good idea for a "primarily street driven" car. The aluminum doesn't have the mass to store the energy that is needed to get the car moving from a stop. The solution is to rev the engine higher and slip the clutch more. I'm sure that would get boring, pretty quickly.
i,ve got the FRPP aluminum one in my 95 between it and the aluminum driveshaft from FRPP i really noticed a lot better response and mine is still in like new shape after 2 years useage

I've done the afw's on a few cars in the past I drove on the steet.
Then again ... when talking about those ... STREET CARS ... in truth ...
they were really weekend warrior type cars that I would sometimes sneek
out on the street
Those cars had steep ratios like 4.56 and they were very light ... like 2200 #'s
or possibly a bit less.
For an every day driver and since our cars are quite heavy ..........
I'd not think I would like an afw.
When talking stick trans application and cars as heavy as ours ............
I'd not want a ratio of less than 373's as like Rob said above .......
You'd have to work a bit more at getting off from a stop

had a couple hotrod daily drivers that i put aluminum flywheels in. no doubt, one of the best mods i did. I loved it. I use zoom aluminum fw's, made some serious difference.
