how much should i be paying for a used wc t5 bellhousing?

i NEED a wc t5 bell housing ASAP and i got a guy in the next town with one hangin out in his garage for 50 bucks... now, 50 bucks sounded a little steep to me - i was just wondering what you guys think i should be paying?

ALSO! IF ANYONE IN CENTRAL JERSEY HAS A SPARE WC T5 BELLHOUSING LAYING AROUND, I DESPERATELY NEED ONE!

When I read the title of this thread I thought it was going to be more than $50. The price sounds pretty decent to me. I seen used ones go for more than that.

word.. i mean, i've got a non world class one on right now that i've grinded away... but i wasn't sure about re-using it being as it's not the proper bell housing for it.. can anyone possibly enlighten me on the topic?

$50 is an outstanding price...hell you can rebuild it and still be cheaper than what they sell for around here, especially being a WC.

Well, since i've never bought one new, i'd have to say $50 is still pretty good since i paid $199 for my Tremec bell. It just depends on where you are and what kind of parts are easy to find in your area. Like i said, around here you can't touch a T5 for less than $300 even grinding gears. People blow up tranys a lot around here i guess so they're in demand.

can the old housings be ground to fit a 10.5 inch clutch? why or why not?

i got a non wc 83-84 housing sitting right here ready to be ground down.. if i don't get an answer HERE i have to wait until monday to have my car back on the road.. please guys, if any of you tech people stay up late and read this, can it be done or not?

well I just paid $120 for one so yes get it if you need it damn its not that hard dude, and there is no such thing as a wc bellhousing, its just a bellhousing, nothing special about it..

The E3 bellhousing was used from 1983-1985 and was used with a 10" flywheel. You'll need to grind for it to fit a 10.5" flywheel/clutch.


The E6 bellhousing was used from 86-93 and will work with the 10.5" flywheel and clutch.



I paid $15 for my E6 bellhousing

but it CAN, in fact, be ground to fit a 10.5 flywheel? that's the idea i had, but i didn't know if it was too practical or not?

like i said, i have an e3 ready to be ground.. i just don't know if it's appropriate/safe.. if i could, i'd rather grind the one i have than spend the 50 dollars on a new one.. ya know?

It can be however I personally wouldn't.

I accidentally bought an E3 housing, so I sold it on ebay where they go for $50+ or so and then bought an E6 housing at a parts swap at the last Fun Ford Weekend where I bought one for $15 and another for $20 and gave to a friend.

50 is a hell of a price. search the classifieds and ebay. they are going anywhere from 75-120 from what I have seen. I would grab it. if you decide later that you dont want to use it you can always sell it for more than 50.
