I am have been looking into Crate engines and came across a ford racing 347 crate engine that uses a BOSS block and forged internals. It retails for about $8,600, it looks fairly complete and just needs a carb and a front sump oil pan to run in a classic Mustang.

I wanted to get some feedback from people here if they thought this was a good engine for the price? I am not sure what a complete engine goes for but it does seem expensive to me.

Have people on here had good experiences with these Ford Racing Crate engines?

Let me know, thank you for your feedback.

My motor is just thier 345 HP 5.0, but I could not be happier! Just bolted on my stuff, dropped it in, set the timing & carb, and have not messed with it since. :nice:

Beating the crappola out of it too!

Good stuff. If the price is right, snag it.

Only area I had some fun was the headers mating to the heads, and there is more meat on the aluminum heads by the head bolts.

Prob not too bad of a price considering your paying extra for that block. IMO you probably don't need a block of that caliber unless your going to be pushing it hard a lot at the road course or drag strip.

As for the 345hp engine, that being in a cobra is one thing, but being in a much heavier 67 stang (assuming thats what you have) would be low of hp for me. Great for a DD type though. I guess it boils down to what your use of the car is.

The car I am looking into motors for is a 67 Fastback. I like the 347, but would prefer a 331. I thought I read somewhere that they would be offering a 331. I will wait and see what my budget allows. As you know there are unexpected expenses that pop up when restoring a classic Mustang.:SNSign:
