I was looking at some new gauges and I was wondering what it would take to put the 140mph gt gauges in my lx which only has the 85mph ones. Is it just a matter of changing the speedometer gear?

You cannot just change the gauge faces, you have to change the speedo assy.

The speedos are calibrated so that you can just swap them out.
No big deal really.

Just make sure that you get one that matches your cluster. ie: airbag or non air bag as they are shaped differntly.

just to clarify, when he says you just change the speedo assy, you dont change out the whole cluster, most of the other gauges won't work if you do, you have to actually pull the speedo part out of the cluster assembly and switch it into yours. and it's not exactly true that you have to use a matching one. i have a 140 speedo out of a 92 (airbag car) in my 87 cluster. just have to do some trimming to get it to fit.
