What did Ford do to me?

I did not know that it could be done on the lift.The grinding sound was there before I had dropped it off....it was one of the reasons it was being taken in,but due o a misunderstanding between me and the service advisor it did not get looked at and I had no clutch problems.
The tranny tech said that he's guessing its the 5th gear roller bearing.But to me the tranny is just noisier than what it should be in all gears.For example when shifting the tranny has the sound as if something is looser than it should be and has to much free play...if that made sense.

Just curious Fast97 are you a tech?With what you told me about the lift thing there is no reason for that mileage and I think Im gonna ask why they put so many miles on it,it takes me a week or so to put that many miles on it.

Yes I know they suck but it should be working.It worked when Ford got it.Hasnt worked since I got it back.....what happened....:shrug:

First off, you are under warrenty so they have to fix it. Second, you didn't have this issue when you took it in so it is clear they did SOMETHING. Who knows what it was. Like you said, it takes you a week to rack up that many miles so something is definately up here. Take it back to them and have them fix it, simple as that.

As far as an aftermarket cable, don't bother. I've spoken with Maximum Motorsports and they have told me that out of all the cables, the Ford piece is the best you can get. They said to just get a new quadrant and firewall adjust and if the cable is stretched to get a new OEM one. They said they tried every aftermarket cable they could get their hands on and none of them worked as well as the stock piece.

My cobra has the same problem now. stock cable broke on me...so I replaced it with an adjustable one I actually got with the car. Well I routed it back to what I thought was stock....but apparently its not. The clutch is harder to push and I had to adjust the crap out of it to get the clutch to release properly.
I have an aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster....and the adjustable cable as well. Everything is dialed in to get the pedal where I want it, but NOW its really tight against the TOB....before it had slack with the same engagement point.

If you figure out the stock routing...please take pics and let me know!

Rusty67::nice:

Thank You for the info,I agree.It goes back Monday.I know about the Ford cable(OEM) being the better.

Hotmustang:

I will post som pics if I can.
Best I remember is that it goes straight out the firewall to the oil stick then travels down and screws into the fender(bracket),then straight down towards the oil filter and goes around the filter and follows the oil pan to the tranny.

Also just to make sure my cable wasnt stretched out I installed a extra one I had from my old GT(both cable had the same part #),DID NOT make any difference at all.

As I posted earlier I will update as I find out more.
