Chevy engine in a Stang?!?!

I think any LS motor in a fox is a good idea. I wouldn't do it, but how can you complain about what was said before, and known everywhere, 400+ rwhp, 6-speed, nearing 30 mpg, and lightweight. Think of how many 30 mpg, 400+ rwhp well manered fox bodies you see out there? I personally don't see them often at all, but maybe my area isn't plagued with Mustangs and fox bodies?

:D

Anything "Civil" gets tossed right out the window when mentioning dropping a bloody Chevy engine onto a FORD.

And the excuse that "Chevy's are cheaper" Well you get what you pay for. Look around you there is PLENTY of after market for Fords They even have "big block" Modulars now....wtf is your excuse? you seem to have a bit of money...If I where you I'd save it up and buy something thats ACTUALLY good.

Besides dropping a Chevy in a ford is a good way to look like a dou....bag and piss off would be friends.

That is all;)

I was in Walmart a year or two ago walking out when I saw 3 goth chics sitting on a bench in the foyer. One of them was a big girl who was wearing a skimpy skirt and these grey, white and black leggings.

Being the Strype that I am, I said "Nice tights". She went off. I thought she was going to eat me. She said "And where'd you buy your jeans? From here?"

I said, "Old Navy." and walked away.

This is one of those same situations. Some people only want attention so they can have the chance to attack when they get it. It makes them feel better to lash out when they get it. Putting an LS1 in a stang is no more "Cool" or noteworthy than getting a nose ring and connecting it via chain to your ear ring.

:)

Thank you.

Yeah, of course you can build a 347. But I've seen plenty of NASTY 408s on here struggling to put down what an ls1 with a cam and a tune does. This is with crappy street manners and a carb that gets what, 8mpg? And it's still much heavier. So build a 400+rwhp aluminum block 347 that gets 30mpg and drives like it's stock hooked to a t56 for the price that it costs to buy a used ls1 with a 6 spd attached to it. Then you will have a reasonable argument.

I also have to ask...

Why are people referring to the GM products as junk? What about the LSx motors makes them junk? What about the 6-speed trannies makes them junk? I guess I fail to see the proof, or facts that these motors and trannies have bad reputations.

Because it is a chevy in a ford is why its junk....

And its been over done by "hot rodders" out of ALL the engines ford has you cant find a replacement????!! I have seen 2.3's put down more power then that new LS engine Chevy has. Power per liter is where its at.

But the motor and tranny themselves are far from junk. They are great pieces that hold up and make great power. They are reliable, lightweight, and all around good choices.

I know, and understand the Ford in a Chevy and visa versa argument, which is why i personally don't see me doing it, but thats does NOT make the GM stuff "junk". Now if they were notorious for issues, breaking down, heavy and made terrible power, I can see it.

I guess to me, the only issue is the term junk being thrown around, when in actuality the motors are some of the best ones out there.

LS engines are great engines,i bleed FORD blue but if i had a chance to drop one in my notch i would in a second.I think as long as the car is fast and reliable thats all that matters.STOCK for STOCK 302 or 351 are you gonna throw in a cam and exhast and put down 400+ horses to the ground? If you see a nice tastefull stang running really good times and walk over and see a LS engine in it ,what are you gonna say.Oh this thing is a piece of crap?I dont think so.Its JMO,i appreciate any car that hauls ass and not riced out.

No, I'll just give you a funny look and walk away.

I was kinda thinking about all this. I decided that crossing brand lines in an engine swap requires the same attitude a bisexual person has: you'll ride anything that's convenient to you at the time.

If you have the time and money to put an LS1 into a mustang, you have the time and money to build a 347. This means that you are doing it to be different and you want to "GO AGAINST THE GRAIN YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAW!" and as we all learned in highschool, people who are different get laughed at.

Thats a little far fetched if you asked me... Go out and buy a dart block so you can keep up with a modified LS series motor and you are going to spent AT LEAST 10K, and thats if you go with a hyd roller cam, and dont go nuts on the cylinder heads... That being said i love fords, but they do NOT make a N/A motor that will keep up with the LS motors, plain and simple that motor is badass. if someone wants to put that in a fox mustang and it looks clean, more power to them. I wish i had the time/space to do it... cause i would. AN ALL ALUMINUM MOTOR WITH TRANS FOR UNDER $4000 sounds like a dream to me... have you ever seen what a SBF aluminum dart blcok costs these days??

I'd rather see a CLEAN fox with an LS1 than a ratty one with a 302(which i see alot of)

That makes perfect sense:rolleyes: ,i guess you are very experienced in bisexuality.
This is a car forum, talk about your alternitive lifestyle somewhere else......maybe at Strypes house.

Mostly just begs the question, "Why?" Were they out of Chevys? I mean, its his car, do whatever you want, but, if you have that kind of time, and $ to waste, maybe a new hobby is in order. Maybe inventing something that fits under the hood, and moves the car, but not powered by gasoline, would be a better use of his apparently limitless resources. And actually useful. And good luck selling it. Is there a warantee, something every Chevy owner really needs?

I lol'ed at this post.

you guys do realize half the parts we put in our cars arent ford right?

So whats the difference if another company makes a part you put in your car. Just like gm?

Powerglide? Dont hear people bitching about that.

Is it just becuase im an actual car guy and dont leg hump one brand?

I'm not sure a GM motor in a Ford is the same as someone being bisexual, never would have made that reference.

I see why people wouldn't do it, as I wouldn't. But the reasoning some give here is a little far fetched. I have no problem with people not wanting to do it, but the reasoning people give scares me. The GM motor and tranny are both awesome pieces, cheap to get ahold of, reliable, etc...

If you need a $10,000 motor to keep up with an LS1 car you are in DIRE need of a good mechanic.
