Nice!

Brand loyalists are great, I'm not one. I have had my share of 5.0's for 22 years. Before I bought my first, I really wanted an IROC, as I was driving an 80 Z28, and planning to build a 427 I had for it. If I coulda bought a new car for the last couple years, it woulda been a GTO. If I found a 69 Goat tomorrow, this 5.0 would go to the back burner in a heartbeat. LSwtf ever, I'm sure its great, but I wouldn't put one where it isn't necessary. 400 hp, 30 mpg, never heard that tall tale before; and lets see how it does in a few years. Tin engines don't last long under regular use. Period. Anybody remember the self proclaimed "King of the hill"? Nice to blow $60 large on the vaunted Corvette, and have your Mercury Marine engine sieze- hence GM's reputation for being junk. For me, it comes from all the people I know that have or had one, Caddy's, Buicks, Chevy's, Pontiacs, that stupid electrical things, recalls, and warantee work are a normal part of ownership. Seems moreso than most other(non Chrysler) brands. In 87, I bought my first 5.0, and my buddy Kenny bought the first IROC 350 on the block, 1 month apart. In the next 2 years of nearly identical use, I had a nut back off the back of my ac compressor. He rounded out the cam, needed intake gaskets, had to send out his radio twice, replaced the hatch supports, and listened to every rattle and squeek human ears could withstand. If there still is a GM next year at this time, they have a lot of work to do. If I'm loyal to one brand, I guess it'd be Toyota, cuz I'm on my second one with 190K and counting, the air blows cold, and I KNOW I can get to work every day. To pay for my Ford parts. Someone give that guy a hug, he needs positive reenforcement for his LS whateverstang. Goofy engine/car combo's aren't a novelty, either, thats how hotrods were invented, by the founding fathers. They had to do it, we don't.
