4.30's too much gear???

keith you have your 3.90's sitting around???

If I did you coulda had them but sorry I sold them on ebay. All around best gear man. I loved them.

LOl -no. I picked the wrong upper gear for my combo (in the trans). I have a .64 5th which revs nice and low on the b-way..Problem was with the 3.27's she was bucking at like 1643rpm@60mph ACK! That upper gear is meant for peeps with a non bucking combo or higher rear gear ratio. So with the 3.55's I am about 1800rpm@60. Still too low but hell of alot better. I didn't want to go to big on the gear cuz I didnt want to have to drive around with slicks..So speaking of PMS ,Rick 91GT is gonna try and tune that out with one.:)

......hmmm maybe u can buy me trans and get the 4.30s... Its got..maybe 2-3k on it...put it in the gear calc:

Heck Fire ... when I was a kid in my mid 60's Falcons, Fairlanes & Stangs

All we had back in the day was 4 forward gears :banana:

You know ... 4 in the floor ... as they said it back then :)

That means 4th was 1 to 1 :spot:

Hey ... My 9 inch housings were always loaded with 456's :nice:

And you young'ens cry about turnin less than 3K on the highway :cry:

It was just understood ..............

When you snuck out your weekend warrior on the street every now and then
You had a highway cruise speed of 45 to 50 mph ;)

Where I grew up there were several little communities that each had its own
places where gear heads like to ... shall we say ... Congregate :D

therefore

When you wanted to go over there and raise a ... little cain

You just stuck to the non-hiway kinda roads :nice:

Also ... If I was in my own neck of the woods :)

Well ... 28'' tall wrinkle wall slicks did meet the public streets every now
and then which kept the r's down a tad :rlaugh:

Might get by with the sticky tires left on for a quick trip to the burger joint
but
You did have to cap the headers ;)

They've been shutting down the congregation spots so much around detroit....ive had a lot of fun. But man i wish i coulda experienced some of the stories i hear from older guys :nice:

No kidding huh?

My dad has some CRAZY stories...

Anyway, as to the 4.30's... I woudl go with them personally... I mean I have 3.73's and wish I had 4.10's a lot of times... so 4.30's is only ~5% more revs than 4.10's... I mean my 5.0l loves to sit at 3krpm on the highway as it is...

If your Stang is a DD ... That makes a B I G difference in your decision :Word:

Its so much more difficult trying to hot rod a dd as you have to make
W A Y too many compromises :bang:

Gear choice is one of the biggies for sure ;)
