Proper Caster & Camber

I just wanted to add to the pool with my .02 experience. I have a similar setup as the OP. MM CC plates, Bilsteins, and Eibach Pros. I used the MM CC guideline for alignment and it did 2 things.

1.) Drastically improved the handeling of my ride around corners.
2.) Wore down the outer edges of my tires in record time.

As for alignment issues, I had mine done by a reputable, local tire center. They had no problem getting it into alignment. But because of the drastic tire wear from an agressive alignment (per MM guidelines) I had them re-adjust it closer to factory spec.

What are the proper factory specs?

I just went to MM website and they have a section with a bunch of installation instructions. If you check out the instructions for there CC plates they specify Fords original specs and MM recommended specs for alignment. Good stuff.

the MM specs are WAY better than the ford specs. the -0.5 camber is just fine for normal driving and will not cuause inner edge wear. i would like to see your printout from that alignment. i would be willing to bet that there was too much negative camber.

MM alignment specs are NOT aggressive. the factory specs are more aggressive than the MM ones

Wow you hit the nail on the head! My front tires are feathering (wearing unevenly) on the inner edges. What should I do to be sure I get rid of the tire wear when I get it realigned? Get the camber closer to -.5 and the toe closer to .16 each? Thanks

get the camber as close to -0.5 as possible and set the total toe to 0.32.
you will see much better wear with this setup. also you should rotate your tires every 5K if you can. if they are a staggered size and directional you can flip them on the rims and that will keep them wearing a little longer

Sorry, but I can't find the print out for the alignment :( (I know I kept it for future reference), but it's lost. All I know is that the MM spec caused edge wear on my tires. I don't dispute the fact that the MM spec is far better than Ford's. When I had it re-done after buying new tires I requested a happy medium between the two. :nice:

anyone know of a good place to take my car in pasadena ,MD or glen burnie to get an alignment? I would do it myself but the company i work for will not allow anyone to work on there own vehicles I want to take it somehwere i wont get someone hot dogging my car and get all the spec. set right.

you can do thrust angle alignments... if you have adjustable LCA's... IE: adjustable length not perch height..

Im gonna build some UPR style LCA's... Adjustable length... so ill be doing thrust angle adjustments to make the rear axle square with the car... I guarantee you its not straight

it should be VERY close from the factory unless you have been in a wreck. i've not seen may solid axle cars with thrust issues unless they had been in some NASTY wreck
