GT in need of IRS

From what I understand the IRS has very nice ride quality. It always irritates me when I feel the solid axle skip and wag a bit over highway bridges and divided pavement sections, I wonder how much better the IRS feels in everyday driving.

If its anything like my car...night and day. But I'm sure my longer wheel base and additional weight plays a role in how my car rides as well. But all of the guys I know that have gone from a GT, to a Cobra all agree the ride is much improved.

I was looking at maximum motorsports webpage today. They have a lot of nice products. A cruising stang with an IRS would be very nice. From what I understand the IRS has very nice ride quality. my only thing with my solid axle right now is the rear axle steer. but a panhard bar will fix that easily. and i cant do the torque arm with my 9 in. so i will be upgradin the uppers to a set of double adjustables.

Hey TeamCaffene, whereabouts in springfield are you from? You may have seen my black bullitt around town?

Anyways to your OP, it's really up to you on this. If you like the way an independent rear handles, go for it. If you find a good deal or a donor car willing to swap with you, mite as well do it. Buying one off a wrecked cobra will probably cost you an arm and two legs
Dark_Horse good to hear that another forum member is from the same town! What kind of "mild mods" are you planning? I was checking out a STS turbo kit the other day. But I can't decide if I wanna go blown or stay NA. Another forum for another time! :)

Easiest answered question evar!!! Get blown :D I'm sure there are a few reasons for staying N/A but our motors love boost and so will you.
I did heads, cams, long tubes with full exhaust, under drive pullies, intake, TB, Plenum. Blah. Nothing compares to the day you drive your car after blower install. :nice: I found a used 1.7 KB near me, cost under 3K for everything. Did the install over a weekend and bam, bonercity.
