Good place for a mini starter?

I just fried mine tonight it looks like, I'll have it tested tomorrow though to make sure. Anyway, I have a t-5 and hooker comp headers in a 65. Any suggestions?

I had my mini-starter rebuilt once by a local working from his home.
It's a CHM brand from FL. I called CHM and they said it could not be rebuilt. They won't get a dime from me anymore..

Summit has them, and a couple are cheaper than autozone but there are cheaper ones online...maybe that is where I screwed up the first time....

Well had advance test it just to make sure and they got it to start right up. Cables looked a little toasty so I got new cables and connectors. The solenoid on top of the starter had some play in it. I wonder if its that or the cables? I don't think its the solenoid on the fender as my gauges are all getting power from there and they all come on when I turn on the key. I won't be able to find out until tomorrow though as my wife just left for work and the starter is in the back of her car

It's been working good for a couple years so far.

a thunderbird with a 3.8 if i remember correctly. you do realize that ford used the exact same starter in NEARLY all of their rear drive platforms from the early to late nineties right? from mustangs to the e series van...they are mostly the same.

Ya, Ford used a ministarter in the Mustangs from 94 or 95 on up. The 3.8 Mustangs use the same starter as the 5.0s.

Well the good thing is, that it wasn't the starter, I had broken the ignition switch off. Got one coming from advance for 12.99.

well, i can't take credit for that list. but it isn't rocket science. add the cougars to it...but look carefully before you start wrenchin'. they were hit or miss. also, the e and f series HAVE to be an auto trans.

Summit racing here too, the infinite clock, forgot the brand though. Nice you can rotate it to fit pretty much anything.

Ok could somebody smarter than me tell me how I'm suppose to wire that when the iginition switch that came out of my car only has 3 blades?

why are you trying to wire it to the switch? all you need to mess with is the solenoid.

It is wired to my solenoid. My starter isn't what is broken, its the switch therefore I needed a new one and can't figure out how to wire the 4 blade where a 3 blade goes.

The connector that is outside the plastic housing isn't used, IIRC. Go to Painless Performance website and download their instructions for the Mustang Kit and it will have detail on what connectors are for what wires. I'd do it myself but I'm at work and too lazy to pull it up. I thought the same thing when installing the kit but it works perfectly with that one connector blank.

It's a mystery I suppose haha.
