Built an engine this past year 331 with GT40P Heads on it. Well i converted it to a roller. I have hardened Pushrods and guideplates the engine ran fine for about 2,000 miles till yesterday on my way to wallmart sounded like a constant backfire. so i pulled over and stopped well i walked home didnt have anyone to call to give me a ride. Anyways i pulled the valve covers off and 1 of the studs on cylinder 3 has snapped off. So my question is what could have caused this if anything and if the exhaust valve was closed. it seems to have a large oil leak from the rear of the engine thinking the rear main seal was blowin out from pressure in the crankcase but im not 100% sure about that just a theory. Hope someone can help im running a decent size cam too Trick Flow Track Max Hydraulic Roller--Advertised Duration 286/294, Lift .542/.463 Kept stock pushrod length also and upgraded springs to Trickflow Dual Valve Springs.

Thank You

Thank You

Its gonna all boil down to one or the other

You had a weak stud
or
Something is not setup like it should be

Did you possible use one of those 5/16 stud conversion kits

Well we decided to buy all new studs just to be sure im looking at the jegs brand ill post link just to make sure

JEGS 20584

i used Crane ones before but summit dosnt offer them anymore after trying this setup without guideplates and snaping the rollers from crane cams cause i didnt get the machine work done big mistake hard lesson learned. So i think it could of been a stressed stud so were replacing them all just want to make sure that these jegs studs will work
