HELP please i think i messed up my timing

hi everyone im 18 and learning how to fix my car myself so please help

okay today i tried advancing my timing i forgot to take out the grey clip(spout) did i ruin something?

but then i turned the car off then took it out and adjusted it and my timing light is an advance one so it has a nob on the back that you can turn anywhere from 0-50 degress i put it at 10 dregees and flashed the light and turned it up on line does that mean its at 12 degrees now? and now the dizzy seems to be turned so much that i cant turn it any more?
please help

if anyone that live in the san diego area that could help i would really apreciate it.

did you mark where the distributor was originally located? That would make it easy to turning it back to where it was before you moved it. If not just keep turning it back until you get it to 10* again

but what do i set the gun at? because i move the nob it gives me the number i put it at the only thing is that when it reads everything is up on line so is it good?

Set the gun at zero, pull the spout plug, turn the distributor to 10° BTDC, and tighten it down.

is it normal that the flat metal thing underneath starts hitting the engine that it wont turn anymore?
