What is the gear ratio of a stock T5

[87GT Drop Top]

I'm going to be building my engine soon and I want to get a stronger T5 transmission. When I do get a different transmission I want a taller 1st and 5th gear. Having 373 gears make 1st almost usless and I tach too high in 4th on the highway. Does anyone know the gear ratio is in a 87 GT convertible 5.0?

You are gonna want a 2.95 z spec gear set....best you are gonna do

You are not lying about that, I swear first gear lasts about 10 feet and you're slamming it into second gear in what feels like a 1/2 second after launching.

with the stock gear ratio, it changes when you go to the 2.95 z-spec gear set. 1st gear is much better now and I actually get more pull through all the gears now vs my old T5.

It list 1st gear as being the same ratio as stock.
