I'm getting ready to paint my 89 lx, and i have removed all the door moulding because it was all curling at the ends, and it seems to be a weird rubber material, and i am just hesitating on painting it with the same paint as the car because i dont know if the paint will adhere properly to the rubber material. anyone who has done this or knows anything about it, it would be greatly appreciated if you helped me out here. thankyou

It will adhere if prepped right with quality materials.

how should i prep it? i have been using a wax and grease remover before and after i sand, and ive used 220 grit to sand. the person who is painting my car said he is going to spray a sealer on the entire car, then the base coat. im not sure what else i could do for the prep of that.

Sand with that 220, spray a coat of quality adhesion promoter, then spray a coat of epoxy primer, 30-45 minute flash time, coat of urethane primer.
